Guest guest
Good day Everyone, I am Silver and I am 51 female-separated going on 5 -to 6 yrs. I am a professional psychic and do some healing work-, but not with herbs most times- it is just my right brained " tuned into spirit " that helps me heal others.....however I don't much think about myself- and now I think it is time- as I have through the years (since the age of 34) had sciatica and this past August a very bad thing happened with a boss I had- she was stressed out and then took it out on my weakness (back) and I ended up with herniated disks and also pinched nerves-and what the medical field calls " Frozen Shoulder " (my left arm) I just signed up for this list last night and just now getting two E-mails that have come through- I am not doing that well with money (soon to be ex husband does not help me at all) my parents help me and I do have my own business and that helps too, but not enough clients to pay just the minimal bills-so it's not been easy. I have been into the metaphysical (saw someone mention Edgar Cayce) I am in Maryland- and Edgar was from Kentucky if my memory serves me well- & he was my favorite psychic and still is- he was a very amazing man-moody, but that is how a true psychic is as they do tend to pick up the energies of those they " read " for..... I have many questions- and have been on many list including psychic lists, but that seems to be nothing but cat fights and I don't need more stress- I am also into herbal healing and why it didn't hit me to try Chinese healing is beyond me- I guess it just was not my time to try this.....until now- I guess because I am going to school to change my situation (cannot do heavy lifting any longer) and taking Microsoft Office Pro 2003 so that I can do a job that won't kill me physically- My questions are this: Is there something besides medical doctors giving me pain meds for my Frozen Shoulder and my back that I can do at home? Also I am wondering (totally new question) about my daughter- she is very overweight and needs to loose- her blood pressure is high and she's seemingly not able to have her blood clot and they have done a biopsy on her breasts and found one that is in the first stages of cancer- I have already bought (a while back) progesterone cream for her and the tea made by the nurse in Canada for cancer patients (I can't recall the name of it, but it is her name spelled backwards) that was a Native healing tea (herbal) that she found that worked for many! I also got news of my cousin last night of my uncle on his " death bed " (how she described it) but somehow I feel that will turn around too- So as you can see I have a lot of questions and I am very interested in learning more! May you all have a very Blessed Day~~ And Thanking Everyone for allowing me to be on your list~any and all answers will be quite appreciated! Guest guest
Hi Silver, Welcome to Chinese Traditional Medicine. Check out post number 7466 for info on sciatica. Mohavecowboy is one of the experts on the list on sciatica. There's also an on-going discussion on Essiac tea. Some of what I typed in a recent post (Re " feedback on astragalus) will start to lay a foundation for understanding TCM. The info on Qi, Yin, Yang, Hot/ Cold, and diagnostic models. There are a number of Reiki healers on the list. TCM can sound very strange to many Westerners since the model of the body is so different from the anatomical model. BTW, TCM Organs are capitalized because they are not equivalent to anatomical organs. TCM Organs are collections of functions. The longer a person sticks with TCM, the more it starts to make sense and fall into place. But it can seem almost overwhelming at first to many Westerners. Chinese Traditional Medicine , " Silver " <silver_islandwoman@v...> wrote: > > My questions are this: Is there something besides medical doctors giving me pain meds for my Frozen Shoulder and my back that I can do at home? There is acupressure. BTW, a very good book on acupressure is Michael Reed Gach's Acupunture's Potent Points. There's a chapter on sciatica. Gach doesn't go into the TCM imbalances, but he selected recommended points based on TCM. Mohavecowboy can tell you more about points for sciactica than I can. Qi Stagnation, Blood Stasis, and Phlegm can cause pain. Yin Deficiency (the energy that calms, cools, and moistens the body) can result in the pain threshold being lower than it would be. So can magnesium deficiency. (Not TCM, but something healers need to be aware of.) > Also I am wondering (totally new question) about my daughter- she is very overweight and needs to loose- her blood pressure is high and she's seemingly not able to have her blood clot and they have done a biopsy on her breasts and found one that is in the first stages of cancer- I have already bought (a while back) progesterone cream for her and the tea made by the nurse in Canada for cancer patients (I can't recall the name of it, but it is her name spelled backwards) that was a Native healing tea (herbal) that she found that worked for many! The same Western-defined medical condition can have one or more various Roots (underlying imbalances) in TCM. Because of this, what works on one person who is overweight or has high blood pressure or sciatica may do nothing for another person with the condition and may even make a 3rd. sicker. The TCM Roots are different even though the condition is the same. What gets diagnosed and treated in TCM are TCM imbalances. Is progesterone cream safe for people with breast cancer? Guest guest
Good Evening Victoria Dragon! I was beginning to wonder why my post did not get to me, nor any other posts until now (besides the last two that happened after I went to bed late last night)........One thing I am missing (I just got back from putting my gas in my car to go to school tomorrow-I was literally praying I'd make it to the gas station it was that low-so to back me up I called my parents and asked them that if they didn't hear from me within 45 minutes (I am in Southern Maryland-very country) to come out and look for me- Thanking the universe for being able to get to the gas station without problems and that I was able to get gas-then I checked my E-mail and I am very happy to see responses on and off list-, Thank you all! One question is (maybe I did not see the explanation-) Is :What is " TCM? " And is there a website that is filled with good information on learning about Chinese Healing? If anyone has sites they'd like to share, please post to the list! I will also look through the archives, Thank you! Thank you all for the warm welcome and I am trying to learn something different- The problem with me and sciatica is not really bothering me right now it is the disks being herniated and a degenerative disk too all in the lower lumbar section-- it is what happened at a part time job having to do with someone not liking what I said so they (on purpose) over-worked me-knowing that it would hurt me-, but I did do the work....then I called and said I had to think of " me " from now on and would not be back- I did not like leaving, but I truly did not have a choice- I've been in pain since August the 17th! Had I gone back to work with people who like to either lie, or make things worse than what it appears I know it would have gotten much worse so I did what I felt was right for me instead of " them " and their being selfish-I wish no harm on anyone, but that was not the case in what happened to me- and so with my age and not being able to do anything physically laboring any longer I am taking classes for Microsoft Office 2003 so I can get a better paying job that is not as taxing as what I had- and hopefully have benefits too- Many Blessings, Silver~ ~~~~~~~ - victoria_dragon Chinese Traditional Medicine Sunday, December 04, 2005 8:46 PM [Chinese Traditional Medicine] Re: Intro today and questions Hi Silver, Welcome to Chinese Traditional Medicine. Silver, I am wondering if you are touching on one of a number of reasons we turn to alternative medicine. Particularly herbs because we perceive them as less expensive. I read an article about the numbers of uninsured young Americans. It jokingly mentioned their gulping down echinacea for colds. One experience cured me of that notion . . . I walked into an acupunturists " shop " here in Houston and she gave me $50 herbs. I couldn't afford the acupuncture that day, I had only stopped by. The money I would have plopped down without the benefit of health insurance co-pays is probably more than one would ultimately pay for a traditional doctor's visit. Perhaps though if you have more complicated problems you might save overall by incorporating Chinese medicine. I think for mild problems we would often like to be able to avoid a office visit. I didn't find the $50 herbs helpful, but of course she hadn't done any diagnosis and the reason I was having trouble sleeping was because of working the night shift versus having an imbalance of whatever kind. I am hearing from experienced list members that you should see a qualified practioner for major illnesses. Perhaps it is more important if you are unfamiliar with the philosophy. At least that is what I am getting from it so far. BTW, I ultimately found Kava Kava to be somewhat helpful in making me drowsy. It seemed to be less affective over time, however, so were my other attempts in tricking my body into sleeping in the day time. Darkening windows, blindfolds, covering my head with blankets. It is infinitely easier to just sleep at night. :-) I guess that just goes back to having a healthy lifestyle first. Zen
Guest guest
Hi, Silver: Welcome. If you have questions about sciatica, go ahead and ask. As to cancer, I know of a medicine that is helpful for the first three months. Later than that, there is another method pioneered almost 100 years ago that medicine has forgotten involving cesium chloride and aloe. Guest guest
Becky, Not quite........I don't use that- if I feel a cold coming on I use Grape seed extract- and other things, but it differs from person to person- I was born with severe allergies and asthma- so I know what I am talking about.......I only ask questions if I want a good answer that can be of good use to me and others........ - Becky Chinese Traditional Medicine Monday, December 05, 2005 11:31 AM Re: [Chinese Traditional Medicine] Re: Intro today and questions I have found that none of health care is inexpensive, be it conventional or alternative. Guest guest
> Is progesterone cream safe for people with breast cancer? > Victoria was doubting this idea - she could not be more correct. This kind of idea makes my head spin. Hormones are not something you play around with especially if one has not tested and been found to need any particular hormone. The subject of HRT is one of my specialties - and I am shocked at how people smear hormonal cremes on their body or take DHEA from the corner drug store - hormones are not like vitamins that can be taken willy nilly (vitamins themselves are frequently improperly used). One should never take hormones of any type without testing and finding a defeciency - especially if you have a serious disease process like cancer. Estradiol and or Progesterone can feed certain cancers. There are so many problems caused by this approach to disease - but the most problematic one for me is that imbalancing of the natural hormonal relationships can create Pituitary 'confusion' that can upset the entire hormonal balance - this is serious business. Please do not use hormones unless you are sure you know what you are doing. Also cancer is not a do it yourself kind of disease - one needs help. As other have mentioned, we've just had a discussion on Essiac tea for cancer, so look for those posts. As for the frozen shoulder (as well as the sciatic pain) massage therapy can work wonders. Since cost is an issue, look for a student clinic in your area, they charge a very minimimal amount. Or you may be able to barter with a local therapist. You may also be able to work out a similar arrangement with a TCM practioner for treatment and/or herbs. sue

Hi Silver, As others have mentioned by now, it's Essiac tea. For your frozen shoulder, as well as the sciatica, try massage therapy. It can help very well for musculo-skeletal problems. Since cost is a problem, look at the student clinic of a local massage school or community college which teaches massage. They are very low in cost and can be helpful. Or you may find a therapist in your area who's willing to barter; a TCM practioner may also be willing to do so too, if you'd like to get treatment or herbs from one. sue ________ DSL – Something to write home about.
