Guest guest
> Zen asked: So why shouldn't I use a microwave? Just to forward more information about Microwave heating here is a site that explains the danger : http://www.mercola.com/article/microwave/hazards.htm Even on Physlink (official scientific link) although they do not mention the real dangers, they do not recommend putting living things in the microwave. So if you think what you eat has a life of its own, then don't put it in the microwave. : http://www.physlink.com/Education/AskExperts/ae379.cfm As a scientist I've been working on similar projects, here is what I can say: A microwave device (magnetron) is tuned to a specific vibrational frequency mode of water molecules (2450 Mega Hertz ). When the microwave is on, it sends this vibration in the enclosed chamber and if there is a water molecule there, the molecule of water will dance in tune with the microwave frequency. To put it simply, a vibrational mode can be pictured as if you were stretching and contracting a spring. Now 2450 Mega Hertz means that the water molecule is stretched and contracted 2450 million times in a second ( no mistake it is indeed 2450 million times). Remember your ordinary light bulb in your house on 60 Hz electric line is going on and off 60 times per second and you don't see it. That's to say that the vibrational temperature (technical term) of the molecule (water) could reach 500° C and plus, but most of heating will come from the friction created by the vibration of water molecules 2450 million times per second which in the process will hit other molecules and could partly disintegrate them into free radicals and other harmful molecules for the body.
