Guest guest
I saw Paul Pitchford's book on sale for around $20 at amazon.com. Pitchford's book is interesting but i find it be too general to ultimately be useful. Many listings give contradictory info - this does not mean that Pitchford has published wrong information - it means that foods have different effects in different people at different times - so one can read in the classic texts as an example that a particular food is too cold and another listing on the same food will say it is useful for heat conditions. Take a simple food like celery - this food has a cooling energetic - and is contraindicated for people suffering from cold disorders - yet because of it's high organic sodium content it is used in false heat disorders even for some cold cases (with warming support). Several people have menti0poned to me that they were confused by some of Pitchford's listings. I myself like his book but sometimes it does take a bit of knowledge to understand what is meant when the statements are contradictory. I prefer Dr. Henry Lu's books. He is a master dietary therapist according to TCM understandings and this is easier to understand than Pitchford since Pitchford's book is based on several different systems - those not knowing how to translate across the systems may end up making wrong conclusions. I would like everyone to study dietary therapy as this is the true key to success in health recovery - to bad it is not taught from primary school on. Herbs and needles are extremely helpful but it is difficult to impossible to correct energetic disorders as long as we continue to make the same mistakes that caused the pathology in the energetics to begin with.
