Bitter melon is outstanding and proven - and much more effective, much safer and far less expensive than pharmaceutical alternatives. Why else do you reckon the FDA raided the bitter melon tea manufacturer down in Florida and shut them down after they had the audacity to refer to some of the 650 PubMed listed studies and articles which vouched for its effectiveness?

Such claims made it an "unapproved drug" in the eyes of the FDA, which only accepts FDA trials costing hundreds of millions of dollars as proof that any substance really works and is safe. You know, like Vioxx, Gardasil, Avandia, Bextra, Aspartame . . . .

Here's what some websites say about bitter melon:

Seems like it is one of those super-dee-duper supplements that attack a lot of things, like oleander does...

Blessings, Jill~

My local Asian market has bitter melon fresh, and also bitter melon tea which is

just dried. To use fresh, you slice it open, and remove the inner core

containing the seeds, slice it up, and cook. The seeds may be there in the

dried tea.

The article mentioned it increased Beta cells in the pancreas that make insulin.

Would this work on someone with juvenile diabetes? When I was looking at the

books on making smoothies mentioned on this list, by Victoria Boutenko, her son

was claiming to have been cured of juvenile diabetes by making green smoothies.

Has anyone heard of this happening?
