Guest guest
Hello, I end up asking many questions for some of my friends as they don't use enough time online / or know much... Anyone is thinking that shortness of breath could be caused by anxiety? A friend of mine, is a very stressed person for some time now, I don't know if he knows how to control it...probably not...anyways..I told him to get himself together. Did you experience the following? He is active, stressing a lot at work and working out.. his weight is good but when he exercises he start thinking about stupidity and is not able to control himself which is leading to shortness of breath but no issues such as heart (pain etc) and he also says that when he doesn't think about it (anxiety or some fear) he doesn't experience it, but he doesn't know how to control it either......has anyone experienced shortness of breath during anxiety or does it look like a heart issue? I think that is what he is not telling me... he is thinking about his heart too much while he doesn't seem to have any issues... Also, whats the best ways not to think about all this and get the clear mind? Thanks!
Guest guest
I absolutely always have shortness of breath when I get nervous about anything. It is my first stress reaction! I don't know your friend's belief system but what I found works for me is that every time I manage to get a good and satisfying breath, as I exhale I say a little prayer of thanks for that breath. Works every single time --- very soon I'm breathing normally. Sounds like he could use a couple of counseling sessions regarding monitoring and controlling his thoughts. Good luck to him! Guest guest
An excellent method of controlling anxiety and bringing a positive mind state is HRV biofeedback. One learns VERY quickly to harmonize breathing with heart rate creating a synchrony that lasts thoughout the day. There are a few programs available for home use- I use Heartmath. Their Freeze Frame technique is also very good for this. Guest guest
Anxiety can lead to hyperventilating, which reduces CO2 levels in the blood, making it too alkaline. This temporary alkalosis is very unpleasant (dizziness, light-headedness, muscle twitches and cramps), and tends to increase the anxiety, leading to more hyperventilation, a vicious cycle. To break this cycle I suggest your friend breathes into a paper bag which will increase his CO2 levels and stop the alkalosis. This will make him feel better and enable him to calm down. If this doesn't help there may be something else going on. Guest guest
Hi Niko, It sounds like your friend has an anxiety disorder and "getting himself together" will not work. It's beyond his control. An anxiety disorder is a condition all of its own. It sounds like he has a pretty good case of it. Does he have panic attacks? From what you describe it is probably not a heart issue, although it is always good to have the heart checked out in situations like these, if for no other reason, just to rule it out. Chances are he has to modify his diet to a healthy one. No processed foods, no sugar. We that have anxiety disorders also tend to be hypoglycemic. Sugar only promotes these unwanted symptoms. I am going to copy and paste a post I made at Curezone with regard to healing from anxiety disorders. Hope it helps your friend. Most of all though, your friend needs understanding and support. EFT (the emotional freedom technique) will help. Here is the link: http://www.emofree.com/ If there are emotional layers that must be dealt with, I would recommend finding an EFT practitioner. If this is not possible, find a therapist or someone who can guide in healing and practice EFT while doing this. Relaxation exercises also help. Start with your feet and work up. Sit comfortably in a chair and tense your feet, then relax. Work up to your ankles, do the same thing. Your legs........ thigs....... hips,,,,,, waist........ chest........ arms......... hands......... shoulders....... neck....... face......... head....... Do this several times a day. It demands practice. Meditation is also beneficial. Lie down and go back to when you were the happiest. Focus on it, bask on it.......... Imagine a place where you would be most happiest and relaxed. This could be a beach, a forest, or you can imagine a room furnished especially for you..... imagine the colors on the walls........ and just relax in your special place. Also, YouTube has guided meditation videos. Here is a list of supplements that will help. l-Theanine L-Tryptothan Colloidal Gold - This is an excellent supplement. It literally preserves the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It helps stabilize any chemical imbalances in the brain and lifts depression. You can get this at http://www.utopiasilver.com. They have a first time buyer offer where you get one free bottle for every 8 oz bottle ordered, but you must call to receive this offer. After that, by using their coupon code LR001, you will receive a 15% discount if it is not on sale. Actually, this is good for all of their products. I take this supplement daily. Plant Derived Trace Minerals - Trace minerals are crucial. Many times the cause of anxiety is due to a deficiency in these minerals. They also help to correct any chemical imbalances. Hawthorne Berry Syrup - This will help with a racing heart and will calm panic attacks. Iodine supplementation is crucial. Many times anxiety is due to a deficiency in iodine. I take SSKI and magnascent daily. The best source that I can refer you to is from Trapper at the Iodine Forum. That is where I get my iodine and they will guide you as to its use. Bach's Flower Remedies will help you to relax. Go down the list for the remedies that will help in your particular situation. http://www.bachflower.com/ Also, what helped me immensely was a product by the name of Mind Soothe carried by http://www.nativeremedies.com. By following this regimen in itself, you will notice that you will feel much better. However, as with anything else, the source of the problem must be dealt with, and that is your emotions. Healing encompasses Body, Mind, and Spirit, and you will achieve it. oleander soup , "nikomtl1" <overloaded wrote:>> Hello,> > I end up asking many questions for some of my friends as they don't use enough time online / or know much...> > > > Anyone is thinking that shortness of breath could be caused by anxiety?> > A friend of mine, is a very stressed person for some time now, I don't know if he knows how to control it...probably not...anyways..I told him to get himself together.> > Did you experience the following?> > He is active, stressing a lot at work and working out.. his weight is good but when he exercises he start thinking about stupidity and is not able to control himself which is leading to shortness of breath but no issues such as heart (pain etc) and he also says that when he doesn't think about it (anxiety or some fear) he doesn't experience it, but he doesn't know how to control it either......has anyone experienced shortness of breath during anxiety or does it look like a heart issue?
