Guest guest
Deadman says it's " in the tender depression approx. 1 cun anterior and inferior to the head of the fibula " . I do have a tender depression there, immediately on the posterior border of the m. tibialis anterior. But needling this point gave me a sensation along the stomach meridian, down to neiting. But, if a place my finger midway between the head of the fibula and the prominence of the lateral condyle and push my finger down between the muscles, my finger falls into a depression just below the ridge between the head of the fibula and the condyle. Needling this point gives me a sudden relaxing feeling (this point is indicated for my condition, liver qi stag.). But it's not tender and it's more like 0.5 than 1 cun from the head of the fibula. How do you locate this point? Tamas
Guest guest
The name of the point is Yanglingquan, and it is a point that is used in Food Stagnation. It moves the middle Jiao. Guest guest
Here's how I locate GB 34. I take the head of the fibula as one corner of an equilateral triangle. The second corner of this triangle is the prominence of the lateral condyle. The third point on this equilateral triangle is your GB 34 which can be inferred from the prior two easily found locations. The only difference between your description and mine is that you put the GB 34 point in between these to prominences. I make the two prominences points on a triangle, with the GB 34 point being the third. Its location is based on the assumption that you're making an equilateral triangle (even length of sides and equal angles.) I guess because of the structures there, your finger will automatically drop down a bit till it hits a needleable muscle there. I just start out with that assumption, that its the third point of a triangle. The location is in fact very close to the Stomach channel. Or if you prefer, a nerve common to both the lateral and anterior aspect of the lower leg. So you may have needle propigation sensation down to stomach 44. -al. Guest guest
Thank you Al. Maybe my description was unclear, but that's the point I meant, the one that gave me the correct sensation, the one that does not align well with the Deadman location. I did not mean the point between the two bony prominences. I just wanted to say that I put my finger there then run the finger downward between the muscles. Where it falls into a depression which is indeed the third corner of the equilateral triangle. Only when I located according to Deadman I found a tender point which felt like a point along the stomach meridian. And of course, it's _yang_lingquan.
