Guest guest
Hi All, I've been on the Heart ward this week. Very strange the way they categorise patient's with a mixture of TCM and WM, but anyway. Had a lovely doctor this week that knew his classics, loved the Spleen school of thought and smoked like a lab-dog. A lot of the patient's had hemiplegia. In these patients the theory was that they had Spleen Qi deficiency (vacuity). The Spleen controls the four extremities, so numbness or a lack of strength and movement is related to the Spleen. This also followed a classical quote, which goes something like this " When the arm receives blood is can grasp, when the leg receives blood it can walk, when the eyes receive blood they can see " . Of course this all relates to the Spleen as it is the source of Qi and Blood. Another little thing is that too much Qi can cause Fire. Never knew that and always wondered if you could have too much Qi. So there's a theory for you. And lastly, haematuria can be categorised into two sections. With pain relates to a dysfunction of the UB, whilst no pain relates to the SI. Will now be at Xi Yuan hospital for 3 weeks, so until next week. Guest guest
HI Attilio, Thanks for all your lovely reports. If Qi is synonimous with emotions can one feel too intensely? I don't think that people do. My observations are that when we feel more intensely than our nervous system is geared for we have self preservation mechanisms that allow us to cut of from those feelings. Mental illness wards all over are filled with such people and so are most of our customers. I imagine that if we do have the capacity to feel very intensely and keep it up for too long then Fire is a logical consequence. Although a large proportion of people appear to constrain the emotions, this is the route most of us experience with our patients where lack of Qi flow leads to Stag. which leads to Fire for example too much held in grief for too long may lead to chest infections. I appreciate you are well aware of what I have just said Attilio. I just thought I'd add the realism of emotions to the subject salvador >Another little thing is that too much Qi can cause Fire. Guest guest
I believe the original quote is Qi4 Yo3 Yu2 Bian4 Shi4 Huo3, which translates literally to " Excessive Qi is fire. " I guess this is why Huo3 Qi4 is such a common term in daily life. Mike L. <attiliodalberto wrote: Another little thing is that too much Qi can cause Fire.
