Patient: (male) Record 3-19-4

 

Patient Number: 318049001 Date of Birth: 6-13-1918

 

What is your major complaint? Mucus.

How long have you had this condition? 4 years.

What treatments or remedies have you tried for this condition? X ray, TB

test, Cat Scan, Food Allergy test - 18 substances (mostly his favorites)

caused reactions. He lost 25 lbs trying to avoid allergic foods, quit

trying and gained back 20 lbs. Cheese, Eggs, Milk, Sugar, Wheat, Baker's

Yeast - the usual laundry list.

Have you seen a Western Doctor for this condition? Yes

Have you ever had sinusitis? Yes.

Have you ever had tuberculosis? No, but test had positive signs.

Have you ever had a reaction to serum, drug or medicine? Yes, penicillin

Have you ever had piles or rectal disease? Yes, surgery at age

Have you ever had exposure to tuberculosis? Yes, wife died 22 years ago from

Have you ever had ear, nose or throat trouble? Yes, uses hearing aid, and

mucus is all over.

Have you ever had or do you now have shortness of breath? Seldom, if

choking on mucus.

Have you ever had or do you now have a cough? Only if choking on mucus.

Have you ever had or do you now have asthmatic wheezing? From the mucus, 4

years ago.

Have you ever had or do you now have difficulty swallowing? Choking on the

phlegm.

miles in car.

tunnel vision. Also, two fingers get stiff.

Hemorrhoid surgery at age 24, Hernia repair at age 23. Has Asthma.

Tall & Slender, hard working " Wood Type " . Yes, 6'.

Clear thin phlegm, cold pattern.

5 element ear problem is mainly kidney; tinnitus is yin deficient.

Pale nails. Yes.

Observe the Thenar Eminence, thin.

Tongue color. Red.

Tongue coating. Peeled. Kidney Yin deficiency.

Tongue moisture. Wet.

 

Inquire:

 

Pain that is worse in humid weather. Yes. (dampness)

Sharp stabbing pain usually in a fixed location. Yes. (blood stasis)

Clear Urine. Yes.

Dark Yellow or Reddish Urine. Yes, when he takes vitamins.

Scanty urination. Yes, a little scanty.

Restless sleep with dreams. Yes.

Change in the skin, such as flaccid skin. Yes.

 

Listen & smell:

 

Very thin and weak voice. Yes. (weakness of Lung Qi)

 

Palpate:

 

Systolic blood pressure (Optimal <120; Normal 124

Diastolic blood pressure (Optimal <80; 72

Heart rate. 64

Wiry pulse, taut feeling; strong, rebounds at all levels, hits the fingers

evenly; no fluidity or wave. Yes. (stagnation in the body, usually related

to a disharmony that impairs the flowing and spreading functions of the

Liver and Gall Bladder)

Dry skin. Yes. (deficiency of liver blood)

Withered skin. Yes. (fluids are exhausted)

 

Impressions:

weakness of Lung Qi

stagnation of the Liver and Gall Bladder

Kidney Yin deficiency.

 

Organs: Lung, Liver, Gallbladder, Kidney and maybe Stomach. Qi, Blood, Yin,

Fluid deficiency, also blood stasis sign.

Bai Di Huang Wan, Er Chen Wan,

Hi Stefan!

 

I went to a rather traditional school, they didn't use the term " Liver

Flush " thus I never know what this means. Is " liver cleanse " what you do

when there is " liver stagnation " ? I wonder if the Chapter 7A patent herbs

in the new Jake Fratkin book " Chinese Herbal Patent Medicines " that

" dredge " the liver are doing the same thing?

 

Thanks for the tip on the Moritz book. Since I am just starting my practice

I don't have a book budget right now. If it isn't too much trouble and you

have the time and inclination perhaps you could post the basics of " liver

cleanse " on the list? Thanks again!
