Tuina Practitioners: was Acupuncture Credentials

Hi Pat,

A very abbreviated list can be found on the AOBTA site at

www.aobta.org. Unfortunately, tuina practioners are not well organized

and the ones that have been trained in " family style " as opposed to

TCM style are even less organized. I found my doctor by just asking

around Chinatown. Kind of a hit and miss approach and it took a while

to find someone I liked.

What I like about my doctor's standard protocol is that he does every

part of the external and internal body in every session and he uses

qigong to move the energy in all meridians. This is, I feel, an

integral aspect of the success that he is having among all of those I

have referred to him.

I know of some Shiatsu practitioners who take a similar approach (i.e,

work all of the merdians and skeletal/joint body as well as using Ki

energy) so that is also a possible avenue. These practitioners, I have

found, are more likely to have been trained in Japan or having

training from schools in Japan where vigourous treatment is encouraged

and asked for. Shiatsu practitioners can also be found on the AOBTA

listing.

I hope this is of some help. I would be very interested in other

replies since I too am looking for practitioners of tuina.

Regards,

Rich

It can be risky, but I prefer this approach. It's

kind of like browsing at a library, you can find some

real treasures in the search and become a little mroe

educated as a result.

Thanks,
