Tract 1: Advanced Applications of Auriculotherapy Most recent clinical applications and research findings in understanding Nogier's 3 phases for the treating conditions in the Musculoskeletal System Neuroendocrine System. The conference seminars will be interactive learning experiences with demonstration and hands-on practice. " This one-day course is designed to teach in a step-by-step manner effective yet easy-to-learn auriculotherapy techniques to allow the dentist, doctor or practitioner to " hit the ground running " on Monday morning. Participants will learn the value of auriculotherapy stimulation in the treatment of acute disturbance just after dental procedures (post-drilling, crown prep, surgery, etc.) and in the treatment of chronic dental focal infections. This course will include several hands-on practice sessions so everyone will have the experience of diagnosing and treating auriculotherapy points. ACI Faculty Terry Oleson, PhD, ACI President, received his doctorate in Psychobiology from the University of California, Irvine. Author of Auriculotherapy Manual: Chinese & Western Systems of Ear Acupuncture, Dr. Oleson has published numerous journal articles on auricular diagnosis and auriculotherapy treatments. Jim Shores, PhD, ACI Vice President, has trained thousands of health care professionals in the practice of electrotherapy for the past 37 years. Director of the Electro Therapy Association in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Has conducted hundreds of seminars on auriculotherapy utilizing non-invasive, electrodermal techniques. Mary Bonnette, MSN, RN, Chair of the ACI Conference Organizing Committee, received her Master's Degree in Mental Health Nursing from the University of South Florida, Tampa and is currently working on a PhD specializing in nicotine addiction. She co-founded the Auricular Therapy Smoking Cessation Program in 1988 while Program Director for The Center for Pain Control and Rehabilitation located at Lee Memorial Hospital. John Amaro, DC, FIAMA, is founder and director of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture that has trained medical and chiropractic practitioners in Euro/Asian Clinical Acupuncture since 1979. He is a columnist for both Dynamic Chiropractic and Acupuncture Today and is a graduate of Cleveland Chiropractic College-Kansas City in 1969. Dr. Amaro received Certification in Acupuncture from the Columbia Institute of New York in 1973. David Carr, DDS, received his degree in Dentistry from Baylor University in Dallas, Texas and is the current director of the Central Texas TMJ Center. He is immediate past chairman of the Texas Aerospace Commission and is a member of the American Dental Association. Tom Corbin, LAc, PhD, has been teaching auriculotherapy and ear acupuncture for ACI and NADA for the past five years. He has conducted research in addictions and the amelioration of side effects of pharmacological therapy in the treatment of HIV patients. He is currently the clinical director of the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine and at the VA hospitals in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Gary Ditson, DC, LAc, is on the Post Graduate Faculty at the National University of Health Sciences. He also serves as development consultant at Logan College of Chiropractic. He has given numerous presentations for over 20 years as a chiropractic doctor and as an acupuncture practitioner. Diane Iuliano, Dipl Ac, received her Master's degree in Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) and is currently the co-chair of the Japanese Acupuncture Department at NESA. She is has served as a staff acupuncturist at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Steve Meeker, Dipl Ac, is Board Certified in Acupuncture and Pain Management. He is also the Vice President of the Oregon Society of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Steve received the Gold Cup Award from World Traditional Medicine in China in 1996. Richard Niemtzow, MD, Graduated from the University of Montpellier in France and obtained residency in Radiation Oncology from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He served as chief of Hospital Services at the USAF 27th Medical Group. He is current editor of American Journal Medical Acupuncture and the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. Guest Faculty Douglas Newland, MD, was awarded his medical degree from Wayne State University. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is in private practice at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, Florida. Dr. Newland is Medical Director for the Auricular Therapy Smoking Cessation Program since 1993. Dr. Newland will be discussing cellular and molecular changes in long-term addiction and relapse. Louisa Williams, ND, DC, has been practicing as a holistic physician for 20 years. She has lectured in America and Europe for over 10 years, co-teaching Neural Kinesiology with Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt.
