Hi Jackie :) All :)

Oh wow! Answering both of those questions COULD take a whole book .. BUT

... in a nutshell ..... here goes .....

Basics for making herbal loose incense

Powder all ingredients as finely as possible, the closer to powder it

is the better it will burn. Mix all dry ingredients together first.

Then add oil in small amounts - but be sure that you do not add it in

just one area,

or you'll get paste. Also if you have a little bit of slightly more

" bulky " matter,

such as not totally powdered leaves or twigs, make a small pile of it

and add the oil

to that instead of the powder - makes for easier mixing :) Blend well

and store in a glass jar.

You want to choose ingredients that are safe to burn! For example ..

resins like frankincense and myrrh .. woods like sandalwood and cedar

.... needles like pine and fir .. flowers like rose petals and lavender

buds ....

There is a file in our group files section called " What NOT To Use When

Making Incense " ...

I HIGHLY recommend ya check that out :)

There is a list on called Alices Restaurant that is totally into

incense making, tradition, etc. Kind of a quiet list but a lot of info in the

archives. They even had a " video " portion on there. Haven't visited in a

while. Let me know if you can't find the list & I'll send you the addy. I'm at

work now & the computer gets tempermental or I would try looking it up.
