Guest guest
Hey Janet, > Greetings y'all- > > I have missed ya. Folks missed you too .. :-) > Butch, went to Fort Sill for nephews graduation from the Captains > Career Course and got to view the new army first hand. Good show .. maybe .. :-( > Patten leather shoes, well ok but think of all those hours saved > by not shining leather, lol. BS on the time saved .. patent leather don't hold up in combat. They started that crap after I retired .. in MY ARMY patent leather was only authorized if you had two pair under the bumnk .. one to $hit in and the other to cover it up with .. ;-{ > We were stopped at the gate and were asked for ID and our business. > Growing up around a base I was surprised to see an officer on this > duty. I am told this rotates and both officers and non-com's pull > this duty. Must be a part of the new CYA Homeland Defense. > My m-i-l's car was searched, seems odd to me she is 72 and taught > English comp at IU, did not seem to fit the profile. Lots'a elderly terrorists running around now and they're the best cause they have the most experience .. ;-p > I was waved through. Doc said I always could flirt my way on base, > well maybe 30+ years ago. Maybe you still can .. you got through w/o being stopped .. ;-) > Brigadier General Fred D Robinson Jr was the speaker. Don't know the young feller. > My guess is he is a fast tracker, good at admin and numbers, lol. He's probably a cannon cocker .. if so, he's gotta know the numbers. > Of the 64 graduates 4 graduated with honors and those 4 are leaving > the military rather than pulling Korea as a duty base. Not unless the Army has changed a lot .. which I doubt. Every school incurs obligatory service .. normally a two for one deal but for the Basic Course schools (normally six months duration) the minimum amount of time an officer must pull before resigning is two years - not one. > Seems some things never change They have changed TOO MUCH .. ;-( > I am told that after Korea they may chose their duty base. That's always been the case .. we put in a DA Form 1049 .. Request for Assignment .. and if that base has an opening for your occupational speciality (primary or secondary) during the period you'll transfer, Uncle Sugar sends you there .. its a good policy. But you also have to choose a 2d and 3d choice in case the first or 2d is not available. > Our nephew is going back to Ft Bragg as his goal is Delta Force. Good show .. no finer outfit exists!!! The Special Forces and other Elite Forces have NOT CHANGED! > I don't know if I should feel pride or concern. Doesn't matter much to him .. I hope .. but I would recommend you feel one HELLUVA LOTTA PRIDE! ;-P > I found both Brigadier General David Ralston and Brigadier General I know BG Ralston .. think his pappy is a retired 4 star - but I don't know BG Maples. > Michael Maples both of the Field Artillery Center to be more focused > on family and needs of the officers to balance duty with family, at > least in their address, my g-d some things do change. What'ya expect them to say in front'a all them folks .. " If the Army wanted you to have a family, they'd issue you one! " ;-p In truth, the Army started leaning toward the entire team - the family and the service member, long afore I retired. > We were all treated very well, during our stay, I had a minor vehicle > situation with a rental car which was resolved in about 15 minutes > on base rather than having to call AAA. Good show .. the Army takes care of their own .. :-P > I hosted a small luncheon for some of the grads and their families > after the ceremony and found most of then would like to elected > Collin Powell president. They're still young .. ;-9 I woulda selected him too afore he showed me he is a bit too cautious .. now, I'll take Don Rumsfeld .. he's becoming a Saturday Night Matinee idol for lots of wimmens and a tough guy for us Hawks .. ;-p > Since we changed to Daylight Saving time while we were there one > officer was kind enough to remind me to change my clocks. As he > explained I would turn my clock back 1 hour for this, I said no sir > Spring Forward-Fall Back. Whaddya expect from a buncha young captains? They're still learning to not wear patent leather shoes .. ;-p > Yes, madame but I just finished a class on this and why it is done and > the why knowing this in the military is necessary. Sounds like a West Pointer .. an OCS graduate would know better than to talk such crap, an ROTC graduate wouldn't know how to wind a watch in the first place, and an old battlefield commissioned mustang like me wouldn't cared about your danged watch in the second place .. ;-) > My response; > Yes sir, I realize you attended a class on this, I realize it was > taught by the military, I realize you passed this part of the course, > I realize I am old enough to be you Mom/Grandmother and since I have > hands on experience in this operation I would respectfully submit that > if you do it your way, Sir, you will be late for you duty in the > morning, Sir. So I noted again, some things never change. You were too kind .. shoulda let the snotty nose brat be late! > Pray all of you are well. Finer'n frog hair I am .. got that tooth out an hour or so ago - both pieces. Danged dentist was gonna throw it away but I told him I wanted it. Gonna put it under my piller tonite. If I been a real good boy, Hulya Avsar (a most fantastic Turkish movie star) gonna come creeping around to gimme a quarter. But more'n likely, I'll be visited by either Margaret Thatcher or Madelyn Albright .. :-( > Doc and I had a great trip, met and visited with many nice people and > saw some family in Iowa before returning home. Good show .. glad you had a good time. I'm gonna take another trip soon .. going to Samsun on the Black Sea around mid-month and coming back to the US for a month on the first of May. > Now that I am back I need to get busy. I am overwhelmed with work to the point that there is no way in hell I'm gonna get caught up soon .. or especially today .. so I decided I will just take a trip down to the local pub in a few minutes. My jaw is in great shape now but I'm gonna have a few cold ones just in case it might decide to change .. ;-p > Blessing be And to you .. welcome back .. and keep smiling .. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com > ¸..·´¨¨)) -:¦:- > ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) > ((¸¸.·´ ...´ -:¦:- Janet -:¦:- > -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´* > > How To Make Rose Petal Jam - Step By Step Instructions > http://www.av-at.com/stuff/rosejam.html > > To Un send a blank e-mail to: - > > > >

They're still learning to >not wear patent leather shoes .. ;-p I always called then Mary Janes, I did mention that to one of the young men, snicker. >Sounds like a West Pointer .. an OCS graduate would know better than to >talk such crap, an ROTC graduate wouldn't know how to wind a watch in >the first place, and an old battlefield commissioned mustang like me >wouldn't cared about your danged watch in the second place .. ;-) God I love it when you talk reality! >You were too kind .. shoulda let the snotty nose brat be late! Afore I forget to mention it, if your travels bring you through Madison, Wisconsin there is country ham in the house and you always are welcome to whatever hospitality we can extend, bed, board, brew. >I am overwhelmed with work to the point that there is no way in hell I'm >gonna get caught up soon .. I referred about 13 people to your sight this week for oil and books. Hope you have more of Martin's books. >or especially today .. so I decided I will >just take a trip down to the local pub in a few minutes.
