Guest guest
Hi everyone, I saw this product in a catalog and thought it was interesting to see oils (essential? infused?) used this way and thought I'd share. I'm removing the product and catalog name so that this will not be inadvertent spamming. The name implies that it will repel flying insects. It doesn't mention bees, wasps, flies, etc., in the ad copy or product name. I've tried mixes of oils on my skin that are reasonably effective against mosquito biting but not gnats swarming. Some people never want anything on their skin, period. I have never been impressed with the results of using citronella candles - purchased or homemade. If such a preparation did work, I think this preparation and the cost would surely compare favorably to bad poison sprays. So, anybody have an opinion? Would this be a good thing to try for a family picnic or did they " see me coming from a mile away? " Has anyone had success repelling mosquitoes, flies, gnats or wasps by putting drops of oils on ribbons and tying them around where the people will be playing-eating-sitting? Gail (Product Name) Enjoy a mosquito-free yard ... even late into the evening! Pest control that's good for your yard! One easy application of (Product) repels these and other flying pests for up to three weeks, even if it rains (Company name) went through 5 years of university testing and it paid off! A summer essential in your backyard, picnic site, campsite, or at any outdoor event, this organic, nontoxic, biodegradable blend of lemon grass oil, peppermint oil and garlic oil and natural clay won't harm plants or pets. In fact, it actually enhances the soil and helps build turf! Simply shake this pleasant-smelling mix on the grass, or around the patio or pool area (best when applied 12 hours in advance; wait 48 hours before watering). One 5 lb. container covers 3000-4000 square feet. They're charging $14.50 (U.S.)/container or $12.50 if someone buys 3 or more BTW, I have been happy trying Peppermint wiped on the table cloth or sprayed on the picnic table as a deterrent to ants. They seem to hate it. ;-) However, although peppermint is a pleasant smell, I think it could overpower some other pleasant aromas of food on the table. Maybe people would think " now EVERYTHING smells of peppermint. " My family is so allergy prone, half the time we don't even smell the peppermint! LOL) Gail
