Guest guest
It must be something to do with AOL, because I don't seem to get much Spam. Only drawback is I have to email Kathleen every time she puts out a new edition to magazine. But I think I'll settle for that. :-)))) Patty Corapi

Guest guest
Usually you can select the messages you want to delete/block right at your Inbox page. Then depending on your internet provider you should have a direct option to delete the sender. I.E. In MSN, I select all the e-mails I want to 'block'. Then I go to the dropdown menu for 'More'. I choose the option 'Block Sender'. It gives me another box to 'OK'. And ... that's it done. I will never receive e-mail from that sender again. When I had AOL you had to write down the domains that the spam was from i.e. coupons.com (PIA!), webpharm.com, etc. Then you went to the e-mail settings box. You choose the option to 'restrict' the following domains. If you enter those domains then AOL will automatically deny any e-mail coming from those domains. If you use mail to check your lists then I believe it's a hopeless case. But I NEVER use to check my list sites. So, fiddle around with your internet provider. There must be something in the 'Help' section (hopefully you have one that really does 'help' LOL) about blocking senders. Hope this helps! Dale p.s. Have a great trip and WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN TURKEY?! Since I'm new...tell me the story. I've seen photos (armchair world traveler) and the colors of nature there are beautiful. - Butch Owen Tuesday, September 17, 2002 8:54 AM Induced SPAM ** II Hey Dale, How does that work? I mean .. sometimes I get 6 different messages from 6 different cats with the same dialogue .. and tomorrow, it might be 4 or 5 more. Do you block addresses or subject lines or what? Thanks .. Guest guest
Now I’m curious and wondering - don’t those 2 preferences just allow folks to either invite you their group, or directly you to their group? I figure is gonna sell your info if they want to regardless of whether someone starting an e-mail list can invite you to join it (or sign you up as a member of the list automatically). They just SEEMED like unrelated things to me, but I could be totally mistaken too. Then again, I guess if it’s a list created JUST to mass SPAM folks, it is the same thing Plus, doesn’t a lot of e-mail SPAM come the same way paper junk mail comes via the post? A company whose site you visit and buy something from, or even a shop not online who you buy something from and you give your e-mail addy to, go and sell your info to for ½ a cent and BOOM .. bombardment of junk mail in one form or another - whether it is sent on screen or sent on paper… It seems unavoidable, like telemarketers! Here in Colorado they passed a law that if you join this list that tells telemarketers they can’t call you, they’re not supposed to call you … and they STILL call! Its so annoying! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Janet Golden-Hogan [janetkgolden] Tuesday, September 17, 2002 10:15 AM Re: Induced SPAM ** II Hey Butch~ >Hi y'all again, > >If I go >to </myprefs>/myprefs I >see where it indicates >Allow Direct Adds - Yes Allow Invitations - Yes > >Is there a way to say NO .. and still use the Lists?
