Hey Dale,

A Moslem I'm not ... but .. I know that ..

> Which is why I say I am a Christian. Period. Not Catholic, not

> Baptist, not Methodist. Not anything else.

> I'm a Christian. It's a way of life. A shaken way of life after

> 9/11, but still strong. Meet them with peace.

True Moslems also meet and part in peace. In fact, a common phrase in

Arabic is " Depart in Peace " or " Go With God " and in Turkish, its, " Gulle

Gulle " meaning " Go Smiling " .. :-P Gul is the Turkish word for Rose and

for Smile .. sorta seems appropriate - huh?

I figure 9/11 shook all the people in the world who did not have evil

hearts. I know you know this too .. and I'm not preaching.

I have read the Koran .. have an English copy of it. A very beautiful

history book - in many ways similar to the Old Testament. I have seen

nothing in the Koran that dictates a person should cover the body as was

required in Afghanistan and is still in Saudi Arabia. Nor have I seen

mention of many of the other Shariot laws that are observed in Islamic

fundamentalist countries. I think that is because those laws DO NOT

come from the Koran - they come strictly from the Shariot which is

separate and distinct and as far as I have been able to detect, not a

requirement for the modern, devout Moslem to follow .. not any more than

the old beliefs of stoning and an eye for an eye found in the Old Book.

The Moslem way of life, like the Christian path, is a kind, generous,

honest and clean way that demands tolerance of other religions, I have

many sincere Moslem friends but none who believe Islamic Shariot values

should be imposed on a government or that women should be treated any

differently than men. I'll never have a friend who believes in such a

manner, be they fanatics in Christianity or whatever religion.

I believe that all the monotheistic religions are similiar in demands

for treatment of their fellow men .. the big differences are, I think,

in the dogma that were originally created in Europe, by Royalty to put

some in a position of superiority over those who believed differently.

Such dogma was THE basis for justification of slavery and many of the

other sanctified and rationalized acts for man's inhumanity to man ..

and it continues to this day.

Thankee mucho .. I hope to be able to spend time with some wise men in

the area. Some folks are working on that now. :-P
