Guest guest
It dawned on me today that this would be a good place to ask if anyone knows of any herbal suggestions for what ails me. I have had gastroparesis for many years. There are times it is simply horrid and I can only eat a small amount a day and still feel stuffed. After many weeks I will have some really good days and have no problems. That tells me that the nerves are not dead but just do not function as they should most of the time. I have been on trial meds for years and some " kinda sorta " work and others do nothing. I hate taking them because they all have side effects and some that get pulled because the FDA will not approve. This curse not only effects my stomach but the intestinal track also. The system seems to slow down to a crawl. I have search and search for some sort of herbal solution and tried enzymes as well as other things that so far have not benefited me. I need something that will " stimulate " the nerve endings in my stomach and intestines. Anyone have any thoughts about this? I have had a horrible two days and am back to feeling a little desperate. Thanks for any insight you might have. -Helen
Guest guest
Helen Will you tell us what you eat? This is the first step... also what is your body type... do you tend to be cold or warm, when did this start, etc. I may be able to give a few suggestions based on that... Thanks Michelle
Guest guest
Michelle - following is my response. > > Will you tell us what you eat? I am just a " normal " eater and it seems to make NO difference what I eat. I can not eat much dairy but other than that nothing " bothers " me. My stomache just refuses to go through the motions of digesting the food. I had a scope done and after 16 hours of fasting still had a lot of food in my stomach. As I told the physician, the only time I feel good is if I do not eat at all. Of course that is impossible!! > This is the first step... > also what is your body type... do you tend to be cold or warm, when did this > start, etc. I USED to be cold all of the time. Now at 54, I have those lovely moments when a freezer would not be cold enough to cool me down. I am average height and average weight. Not overweight. I have always been VERY active and still am. > > I may be able to give a few suggestions based on that... > > Thanks > Michelle

My > stomache just refuses to go through the motions of digesting the food This is spleen and stomach deficiency- your stomach has lost its downward energy- this also goes with the fact that you are cold and have trouble with dairy. Can you see an acupuncturist? Even if you dont like needles- you would be greatly helped with some spleen warming chinese herbs. some warm chicken soup would be good- even better with some astragalus and ginger in it.
