Guest guest
Happy Saturday Folks I made liquid soap and it seems to have come out very well! YAY! It wasn't nearly as hard or as intimidating as it looked on the instructional web sites. It was very similar to regular soap making, except that I definitely needed to use my stick blender for mixing, and that you add a bucketload of water at the end for it to dissolve into. I think the hardest part about it was actually finding the potassium hydroxide. Next time I make it I'll try to remember to take pictures and set up some instructions and post them to a web page. *Smile*Chris (list mom) Snow White Shea Butter Soap Base Perfect For Wonderful Holiday Soap Crafting http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Chris, That is wonderful. Mine came out too liquidy - not as thick as I wanted it. I have not yet figured out why. Guest guest
Congratulations on your first liquid soap batch! First time around is the hardest I think then it only gets easier. Takes a little more time than cp since you add the water and dilute. Did you do the paste method? The photos and instructions is a great idea. Hope to see it up someday! It comes out more like a gel soap. I made a recipe high in coconut, jojoba & castor and it did not get thick the same way as the sweet almond soap did. I tried to thicken with xanthan but it just doesn't have a good feel. A must have book is Catherine Failors " Making Natural Liquid Soaps " She talks about all that kind of stuff. Although I found her instructions and lay out to be kinda tough to follow for making it the first time around. Guest guest
Margaret, Thanks I will look into that book. I dislike working with lye so maybe I won't try it again but since I still have some of it here maybe I will. Cheryl Web Hosting - Let the expert host your site http://webhosting.
