Guest guest
Thanks very much. Great link, too! When I lost part of my foot to a bone infection several years ago, I took ginko, and the doctor noticed quite a difference in the healing, where prior to taking it...it wasn't doing *anything*. Now I need to do something again, to get more circulation to my feet. Guest guest
no problem, BTW, while I was checking on this, I put together a list of links for sites that list herbs for specific ailments, if you would like, I can post it. It's got about 20+ sites, some better than others but I like to have multiple sources when I do research, especially on stuff that's fairly new to modern western herbalism. (like the rain forest herbs, TCM and Ayurvedic herbs) You might also want to add Bilberry, it is good for capillary circulation and strengthening the capillaries. (good for the eyes and helps varicose veins too) Rosemary strengthens the heart, and horsetail strengthens the walls of the veins and arteries. the herbs2000 site (this is one of my favorite sites, the info is very reliable) recommends a tea mix of Siberian ginseng, ginger and ginkgo along with herbs that strengthen the different components of your circulatory system. here's the article http://www.herbs2000.com/disorders/circulatory_problems.htm Cynthia , TDPO <thoroughlydisgustedpissedoff wrote: > > Thanks very much. Guest guest
I think we'd all appreciate it if you posted that list of " herbs for specific ailments " sites. We're all looking for alternatives to pharnaceutical drugs. Perhaps you could arrange them in order of quality, and also group those that are Ayurvedic. thanks. jp - Cynthia Friday, July 14, 2006 6:57 AM Re: GINKO ? ? ? no problem, BTW, while I was checking on this, I put together a list of links for sites that list herbs for specific ailments, if you would like, I can post it. Guest guest
Ok, I was going to put it in the files section but I don't have posting rights. The original file is a Word doc and I have added the herbs2000 index (with hyperlinks for each ailment) to the file and then I added links to about 20 other sites. The hyperlinks probably won't work but you can get the same list from the herbs2000 site which is the first link at the bottom. Here is the whole thing (13 pages) you may need to scroll down to get to the regular links. Anyone who has Word (and can recieve attachment) and would like me to send you the file in its original format, please contact me off-list and I will be happy to send you a copy. (Also, I have specific in-depth research on herbal and dietic supplemental help for Migraines, seizures, depression, womens problems, inflamation diseases like arthritis and fibromyalgia, COPD (and asthma) and Diabetes) Ailments in alphabetical orderA B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P R S T U V W X YAAbscessAching musclesAcneAddictionsAgingAids / HIVAlcoholismAllergiesAllergies, foodALS ( Lou Gehrig's disease )Altitude sicknessAlzheimer's diseaseAmenorrhea ( Lack of menstruation )Anal fissuresAnal itchingAnemiaAneurysmAnginaAnimal bitesAnkles, swollenAnkylosing spondylitisAnxietyAppendicitisAppetite lossArrhythmiasArteriosclerosisArthritisArthritis, rheumatoidAsthmaAthlete's footAutismBack To TopBBack painBad breathBalanitisBarber's itchBasal cell carcinomaBedsoresBedwettingBell's palsyBelchingBites, animal and humanBites and stings, insectBites, snakeBlack eyeBladder cancerBladder infectionBladder, irritableBleeding, severeBlistersBlood poisoning ( Septicemia )Blood pressure, high (Hypertension)Blood pressure, low (Hypotension)Body odorBoilsBone cancerBone fracturesBones, brokenBowel syndrome, irritableBreast cancerBreast cystsBreast feeding problemsBreast tendernessBreath, badBroken bonesBronchiolitisBronchitisBruisingBruxism ( Teeth grinding )Bulimia ( Eating disorder )BunionBurning-feet (Erythromelalgia)BurnsBursitisBack To TopCCalluses and cornsCancerCancer, bladderCancer, boneCancer, breastCancer, cervicalCancer, colorectalCancer endometrialCancer, kidney Cancer, liverCancer, lungCancer, ovarianCancer preventionCancer, prostateCancer, skinCancer, stomachCandidiasisCanker soresCarpal tunnel syndromeCataractsCeliac diseaseCelluliteCervical CancerCervical dysplasiaChapped lipsChapped skinChickenpoxChilblains and frostbiteChlamydiaCholesterol, highChronic fatigue syndromeChronic mucusChronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD )Chronic venous insufficiencyCirculatory problemsCirrhosisColdCold feetCold soresColicColitisColorectal CancerCommon coldConcussionCongestive heart failureConjunctivitis (Pink-eye)ConstipationConvalescenceCorns and callusesCOPDCoughCough, whoopingCradle capCrampsCramps, menstrualCrohn's diseaseCroupCuts and scrapesCystic fibrosisCysts, breastCysts, ovarianBack To TopDDandruffDelayed or irregular menstruationDenture problemsDepressionDiabetic RetinopathyDiabetes mellitusDiaper rashDiarrheaDisk, slippedDislocationDisorders, eatingDisorders, menstrualDiverticular disordersDizzinessDropsy (Edema)Dry MouthDryness and irritation, vaginal DysenteryDysmenorrhea ( Painful cramping menstruation )Back To TopEEaracheEar, glueEar infectionEar-ringing ( Tinnitus )Eating disorders ( Bulimia )EczemaEdema (Dropsy)Electric shockEmbolism and thrombosisEmotional upsetEmphysemaEndometrial cancerEndometriosisEpilepsyErythromelalgia (Burning-feet)Excessive hairExcessive menstruation ( Menorrhagia )Excessive sweatingEye infectionsEye, lazyEyelid problemsBack To TopFFacial paralysisFaintingFatigueFecal incontinenceFeet, coldFeet, flatFeet, soreFemale's infertilityFeverFever, rheumaticFibrocystic breastFibroids (Myomas)FibromyalgiaFlat feetFlatulenceFluFood allergiesFood poisoningFoot odorFrecklesFrostbite and chilblainsFungal infectionBack To TopGGallstonesGangreneGardnerella and nonspecific vaginitisGastritisGastroenteritisGerman measles ( Rubella )GiardiasisGingivitisGlaucomaGlue earGoiterGoutGriefGum diseaseBack To TopHHair, excessiveHair problemsHangoverHantavirusHay feverHeadacheHeadache, tensionHearing disturbancesHeart attackHeartburnHeart diseaseHeart disease preventionHeart failure, congestiveHeart palpitationHeat exhaustion and sunstrokeHeel spursHemochromatosisHemorrhoidsHepatitisHernia, congenital inguinalHerpes simplexHerpes virus, treatingHiccupsHigh blood pressure (Hypertension)High cholesterolHIV / AidsHivesHoarseness ( Laryngitis )Hodgkin's DiseaseHot flashes and night sweatsHousemaid's kneeHuman bitesHyperactivityHypertension (High blood pressure)Hyperthyroidism (Thyroid, overactive)Hypotension (Low blood pressure)Hypothyroidism (Thyroid, under active)HypoglycemiaHypothermiaBack To TopIImmune system, weakImmunization - Guest guest
One note, about the links, as far as quality, I start at the Herbs2000 and the Healthy Net site for herbal info, they are both very reliable and well documented. The sites I listed are the ones that looked the best on a quick random scrutiny. Some are short quick lists, and some go into much more detail. They have been sorted to some extent. I tried to avoid the more commercial sites although the are some that are quite good and I did include any that didn't just seem to be pushing THEIR product. This last list doesn't really go much to the Ayurvedic sites, if you are looking specifically for those, I do have links, let me know, it will take some digging (I have literally thousands of links in my favorites, mostly herbal related, and I have only really categorized about 10-15% of them) I am also working on a master cross-reference list of herbal names, a searchable database that will allow you to type the name you know and it will find it and you will get all the variations of the name, sorted by discipline, but this one is going to take years to complete, (I also work full time and I just finished an on-line cert class as an 'Herbal Information Specialist' through the American Botanical Council in between riding classes in order to learn to ride the Harley that I bought 3 months ago) I have only made it through the 'A's in one of my reference books and about a 100 of the Ayurvedic herbs and I have over 250 entrees.
