Guest guest
The news of July 29, 2006, that the Indian government is bringing a rule such that cough syrups and other schedule K drugs will be sold over the counter (OTC) in grocery stores is welcome news. In USA such a practice is decades old. But I propose why only the schedule K drugs? We the intelligent, educated, well read senior citizens deserve better. We should have the right to self medicate to keep us healthy. I am not for self-prescription of the prescription sensitive drugs. More and more should be brought to the OTC category. Specifically, all the vitamins, essential amino acids, the omega 3 oils, the evening primrose oil such as GLA, and minerals--not just calcium supplements--should be easily available OTC in grocery stores without doctor's prescription, especially for senior citizens.
