Guest guest
Hi there Both my 26 year old daughter and I (49) have very high cholestrol levels - the doctor prescribed Lipitor for her and Simvastatin for me (generic and cheaper than Lipitor). Simvastatin brought my cholestrol level down but not my daughter's, hence her having to continue on that medication. The doctor told us that our high cholestrol levels are probably due to genetics as neither of us has a high fat diet and we exercise regularly. The doctor advised that even if we changed our way of eating, it would make no noticeable difference, taking into account our history of cholestrol. I am completely confused and want to know if this is true. After reading the side effects I am afraid to continue with Simvastatin and at the same time am worried about the cholestrol... does one have to choose the lesser of two evils? Advice urgently needed please.
Guest guest
We discussed a few cholesterol myths last week; here's one post: http://health./message/43587 Duncan , " gloriadepaola " <gloriadepaola wrote: > > Hi there > > Both my 26 year old daughter and I (49) have very high cholestrol > levels - the doctor prescribed Lipitor for her and Simvastatin for me > (generic and cheaper than Lipitor). Guest guest
Hello, There is a lot of junk science out there 'proving' that cholesterol causes heart disease. It's all bunkum. Here is an article from mercola.com which should tell you everything you need to know, including that it's definitely NOT worth taking the cholesterol lowering drugs: http://www.mercola.com/2005/may/28/cholesterol_heart.htm And another good article from the same site about how the drug companies are manipulating the truth in an attempt to put everyone on these dangerous drugs: http://www.mercola.com/2004/jul/21/statin_drugs.htm Regards Andy.
