Breaking news! The terrible bill that would exempt manure from prosecution under the Superfund law will be voted on tonight. The House of Representatives has put bill HR 4341 on " the suspension calendar " which is a way for the bill to voted on without going through the normal hearing process. However, the bill needs a two-thirds of Representatives to vote yes for it to pass. Please call your Representative TODAY and tell them to vote no on HR 4341. Talking Points: 1) The bill did not have a hearing. 2) The proponents are trying to by-pass the normal legislative process. 3) Superfund is one of the few weapons that communities have to force large factory farms to comply with environmental laws. 4) The National League of Cities and U.S. Conference of Mayors is opposed to the bill. Call your Representative at 202-224-3121, and tell him or her to vote no on this sweetheart deal for polluting factory farms. Thank you, Audrey Hill food(at)fwwatch.org
