Guest guest
This wasn't my first time. I used a paper plate with foil wrapped around it as a secure base for the candle and a mirror to watch the progres. The candle's are extra long and are to be used until they burn half way down. I also read the article, afterward, about why ear candling may not be adviseable. It was from quack watch, but sounded very much like my experience. The problem now, is how do I dissolve wax in my ear and probably against my ear drum from the way it feels and acts? I did feel something pretty hot slide down my ear although it didn't actually burn so I am assuming it is wax against the ear drum. Yes, I'm sure it's better to have someone else watching, but with my schedule that isn't always possible. I would never attempt to do it on myself. How would you see what you were doing? Also, you will know whether or not it works because you will feel the difference in your ability to hear. I use an aluminum pie plate to act as a shield, with the candle put through a hole I cut in the middle.
Guest guest
I'm no expert, in fact I'm pretty dense about this topic. But, have you tried laying down with your ear resting on a heating pad? I'd put a couple layers of something absorbant (paper towel, wash cloth) between your ear and the heating pad. Thought it might melt the wax and allow it to drain out. I don't know if this should NOT be done for any reason, so if anyone else knows, please speak up!
