Guest guest
Once again, here I am to ask the question of the synthroid controversy. Thanks so much to all that responded to my inquiry previously, alot of suggestions and great information. To answer some of your questions: My doctor never thought it was necessary to test my T3/T4-just the TSH-which was up to 9.6 -6 months ago. Now, mind you-it has been higher and when my heart just would not stop pounding out of my chest when she told me to raise the dosage and I told her I could not do it, and that is when she told me to ween myself off of the drug completely and go find and endocrinologist. I have gotten off of all of my drugs , 6 weeks off of the synthroid, then I was put on Cephalexan for an infection,. My heart is still pounding--I feel like garbage and just want to die, I know the synthroid is in you for a long time but I have never had this long of a body life and never had this much trouble getting off of this drug. Does any one have any suggestions? I will not be seeing the endocrinologist until the end of August. I think by this time he should be able to take what ever blood work will be necessary and I will be clean of all except 2 of my drugs. Guest guest
I am new to this group and am learning so much already. I am also on Synthroid (for hashimoto's). I didn't realize it was possible to be off of the drug when used for treating a chronic disease. What are the alternatives? --- On Sun, 7/5/09, izabel5740 <izabel5740 wrote: izabel5740 <izabel5740 withdrawal from synthroid Sunday, July 5, 2009, 9:43 PM Once again, here I am to ask the question of the synthroid controversy. Guest guest
I think this is extremely bad advice. I took myself off synthroid (didn't know any better in those days), and I almost ended up in the hospital in a coma. Whenever, I've switched thyroid meds, I did not have to weaned myself off the previous one. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will give you more information. IMHO, I don't think you should go without thyroid meds until the end of August. Guest guest
Izabel, The absolute best advice I can offer is for you to read Stop The Thyroid Madness before seeing an Endo, (which in my opinion is a waste of time). This book will answer all of your questions about " Syncrap " (Sythroid) and introduce you to natural desiccated mediations which are far superior to the artificial, chemical products the Dr's try to force on us. If you have further questions, there are several groups on that are most beneficial. The group I suggest first would be NaturalThyroidHormones- This group is owned and moderated by Janie Bowthorpe, author of Stop The Thyroid Madness. You can also check out her web site which mirror's the book www.stopthethyroidmadness.com Namaste` Cynthia
Guest guest
Thanks Irene so much for the information--it sounds like you just stopped taking the drug or were taken off too soon, and maybe started to develop what they call Thyroid storm--this can end you up in hospital as well as possible death--glad to hear you made it through and are doing much better now. I was weaned off by my doctor and almost took 6 weeks to do so. I will be going in for the blood work once I am off of my antibiotic and hopefully I will get the proper care I need. Have a wonderful day and once again thanks alot. ................................................. stained glass window art --- On Tue, 7/7/09, Irene <imclark09 wrote: Irene <imclark09 Re: withdrawal from synthroid Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 3:20 AM I think this is extremely bad advice.
