Guest guest
Paula, As a medical practitioner and a person who has dealt with IBS for much of my life i can tell you that there is hope. This is what i have done, and what i recommend to people in my office: 1. Relax! Most, if not all people with IBS have a difficult time releasing pent up energy. 2. Never eat when stressed, tired or irritable. 3. Chew your food. Remember digestion starts in the mouth. 4. Stay away from processed foods, especially empty carbohydrates. 5. Take a good digestive enzyme after each meal, but do not become dependent on it (always take breaks, this goes for most everything). 6. Take a good probiotic. Don't be cheap here, there are a number of products on the market, so do your homework. 7. Drink plenty of good, clean water. There are other aspects as well, but seven is a magic number so i will stop there. You are welcome to write me off-list if you like. Take care, Tymothy Smith, L.Ac. > > > I'm looking for some suggestions on natural treatment for IBS and particularly if you tried something that works. > > Thanks, > Paula > > > > >

Guest guest
IBS and what works is very individual. What works for one person may or may not work for another. I've dealt with IBS for years, and at times am asymptomatic. When I do have troubles or symptoms I find that stress is a factor. I also believe in drinking plenty of water...but for me the triggers are varied: stress carrots pineapple ice tea specifically: cream soda (i no longer drink soda of any kind) dairy Keeping to mostly a vegetarian diet (although I'm not a vegan) and staying hydrated helps for me....but stress is the biggest factor for me. Hope that helps. Max
