Guest guest
Greetings. I have a neighbor who owns about 20 dogs and 90% of the time the dogs stray into my front yard and side of my house and do their business there and even on my driveway. The dogs come and go anywhere in the neighborhood and are not supervised by the owners whom are always out of their house. I am tired on cleaning the mess they make and would appreciate any homemade remedy to keep them out of my property and that would not harm my grass and yard. Thanks. AL. Guest guest
This sounds a bit out of line for me.as far as your neighbors are concerned. Great for them to have 20 dogs and care for them: however, not so great for them to not understand that with 20 dogs also goes the territory of having to provide special accommodations for them. I would believe that it is their responsibility to respect their neighbors and keep peace with having so many dogs. This just isn't the norm in any neighborhood. That being said, have you attempted to work it out with them (i.e. keeping them fenced in, boundaries, certain time they are let loose etc.). If not, I suggest you do.., so that you know you've tried. If they don't respond then I would suggest calling the authorities and making a formal complaint. In most states when you have so many dogs you need a kennel license and with that, the appropriate licensing, guidelines and housing to go with it. With just the minimum information here it does sound like they don't have a clue as to what's going on, nor do they care. The only thing that would keep them out of your yard and off your property would be to fence it. Yet, I would think that this would be the owners of the 20 dogs' responsibility. Very simply to prevent liability on their part if any of those dogs ever bit someone. Call the authorities (police, dog officers, SPCA whichever and whatever you may have at your disposal) and make someone aware of the problem. I may be rambling here.but not only is it a safety concern on many fronts (dog bites, dog attacks, sanitary issues, irresponsible breeding etc.) but it's well within your right to take a stand and voice your concern and displeasure. Good luck and let us know how you make out. Lisa _____ On Behalf Of Alfonso Monday, November 23, 2009 10:22 PM Dogs Repellent ? Greetings. Guest guest
I agree 100% with Lisa. My son does not have his spleen, so he is a high risk person, should he get bit by a dog. It is not fair to those who may have a fear of dogs, medical conditions, and those who have put up with the dog messes. Good luck. Guest guest
 Just call the dog pound--in australia-dogs are not allowed to roam freely on the streets-the pound will pick them up and bill the owners about $40'oo per dog to get them back  for the first offence, then $60 next time -then $80'oo-if you ask the ranger to speak to them first-which is what they usually do then it gives them the opportunity to fence in and keep their favorite dogs and  find homes for the rest- do not tell any one you took action as my experience is people and their dogs-situations  can quickly esculate to a full on war-i am a dog and animal lover-i have owned kennels-presently on a country property with many animals-and yes i have neighbours which i try to be considerate and responsible too-animals can cause a lot of problems and it needs to be addressed esp on a hygiene level and saftey for local kids--especially if they are unsuppervised they can run in packs and attack-good luck --- On Wed, 25/11/09, Lisa <blacksands wrote: Lisa <blacksands RE: Dogs Repellent ? Guest guest
You could try sprinkling lots of cayenne pepper or pieces of hot peppers around your yard. When the dogs sniff around your property, they'll get a very unpleasant burning sensation on their noses. Since dogs are just as sensitive to capsaicin as we are, they should soon learn to stay off of your property. And of course it won't hurt them or your yard. Good luck - that's a lot of dogs!
