Dogs Repellent ? (Dogs no more)

Well, I'm probibly going to piss a few people off with my advise, but

here goes anyway: I had the problem somewhat to what you have. Here in

the Salt Lake City/Ogden areas the " Dog Catchers " SAY they're on the

ball but aren't so I went down to the local sporting goods store and

spant ten bucks on a small hand-held propane powered air horn (like you

use at a ball game). The dog's in the yard, I open door, the dog see's

me, doesn't flinch. I make like I'm running after it, taking 4-5 steps

towards it, cut loose with the air horn.

It took about 3 times per dog. Now, no more dogs in my yard. I THINK

they got the picture. And the idea of hot pepers along the yard

perimiter works well. I did that after the horn.

Oh, several neighbors saw what I was doing and asked where I got the

horn & now they've started doing it too.

you ask the ranger to speak to them first-which is what they usually do

then it gives them the opportunity to fence in and keep their

favorite dogs and  find homes for the rest- do not tell

any one you took action as my experience is people and their

dogs-situations  can quickly esculate to a full on

war-i am a dog and animal lover-i have owned kennels-presently

on a country property with many animals-and yes i have neighbours which

i try to be considerate and responsible too-animals can cause

a lot of problems and it needs to be addressed esp on a hygiene level

and saftey for local kids--especially if they are unsuppervised they can

run in packs and attack-good luck

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I like the horn technique but out for me

because these dogs are let out of the their house early in the morning while I

am still asleep. I am looking for something that I can spray on my front yard

that will not harm my lawn. Thanks again. AL.
