Guest guest
Red Wine With Your Fish? --- http://www.eyeadvisory.com/archived_tips.cfm?ID=9 & Action=showarticle Power foods for vision We have learned that spinach, kale, corn and eggs are rich in the yellow pigment lutein, which protects the macula, the center of your retina. Onions, garlic, avocados and eggs contain high levels of sulfur, which maintains glutathione. Glutathione is a major antioxidant in the body and, along with vitamin C, helps prevent cataracts. Blueberries, grapes (and wine) are rich in bioflavinoids, which build strong blood vessels and improve night vision. The northern European blueberry, called bilberry, actually helped RAF pilots see better at night. Fish and flaxseed have essential oils (also known as essential fatty acids) which stabilize cell membranes and combat dry eyes, arthritis, dry skin, depression and multiple sclerosis. What you eat is the first step in changing how you feel and how you see. Fruits and vegetables are loaded with phytochemicals and vitamins, which, as antioxidants, neutralize free radicals. Free radicals are created by our own normal metabolism, as well as by smoking, pollution and stress. The foundation of any good, healthy diet is the inclusion of six to eight glasses of water every day. Recognize that you should avoid the foods that have negative effects on the body. Transfats (hydrogenated products such as margarine, crackers and potato chips) artificial sweeteners, and cooking with saturated oils. You should minimize refined flour, sugar, dairy products and too much beef in your diet. Shop wisely, make sure you know where your meats come from, read labels, and wash fruits and vegetables carefully.
