Guest guest
New margarines and trans fatty acids ----- http://www.drsears.com/askdrsearsdetailopen.member?askDrSearsID=6942 Q. Can you please explain how Benecol and similar new margarine products allegedly have no trans fatty acids in them yet still contain (partially) hydrogenated fats (according to their ingredient lists)? I thought all products containing hydrogenated fats had TFAs in them. A. The USDA allows a food manufacturer to claim " zero " trans fats if the actual percentage of trans fats per serving is 0.5 grams or less. It's like being pregnant -- either you are or you're not. Obviously, the USDA with a straight face allows food manufacturers to lie.
Guest guest
Even worse, they are advertising that these new margarines, such at Take Control and Benecal are GOOD for you. How in the world can partially hydrogenated oil be good for you? Julie
