Guest guest
Today I saw my Dentist who said that I should have an amalgam filling because it is on a side tooth which will take a heavy bite and the whole is big. I of course refused and said I wanted a composite filling .He has agreed but says that the composites shrink due to moisture and so will fall out in a large filling. Is there any types that do not do this? Robin
Guest guest
You can get a ceramic insert bonded into the tooth... but it is not cheap. It is similar to a cap, but goes on the inside rather than over. The procedure is similar to a cap in that it has to be molded and fitted. I am not a dentist, but I am saving up to have all of my amalgam fillings replaced.
