Guest guest
Moderator's Note- We can not tell you what you HAVE to do. We can share personal experiences but being the Mom, the rest is pretty much up to you. Please also search our message archives for threads on this topic. Misty -------------------- Hi! I have a NT baby daughter who will be 12 months next month. I don't want to give her cow's milk ever for the reason that it's very unhealthy so here's my question, how long do I HAVE to nurse her and what does she drink once she has stopped drinking breast milk. I don't want to give her goat's milk because the taste is fowl so any suggestions? I feel that I need to stop nursing her when she is able to be off the breast milk because I need some dental work and xrays that I refuse to do while nursing and also need some other medical testing done that would require anesthesiology. Thanks! Sheryl
Guest guest
Would you consider giving cow's milk if you could find a non-homogenized, non-pasteurized milk? We use a kind called Happy Cow. Of course you can only get it around here, but there may be something comparable in your area. http://www.happycowcreamery.com/About.htm > Hi! > > I have a NT baby daughter who will be 12 months next month. Guest guest
Congratulations on breastfeeding your daughter for so long! It is totally up to you how long you choose to breastfeed, but the WHO (World Health Organization) recommends a minimum of two years and for as long as is mutually desired between Mother and child. As far as other liquids, the only drink your daughter -- or anyone -- really needs (besides breastmilk) is water. You can give other milks (rice, sesame, almond, cashew, etc.) but it is really not necessary. My daughter is 29 months old and she is nursing around 10 times a day. She drinks about 12-18 ounces of water a day, and I make her a smoothie every day so I can give her a little variation. Smoothie consists of bananas, another fruit, probiotics, nutritional yeast, ascorbic acid powder, and rice or sesame milk. Samantha
Guest guest
I nursed my son, he stopped nursing at 6 months. He went straight to the cup. I pumped out breast milk for him to drink. My daughter I tried breast feeding, but she kept throwing it up. I tried changing my diet, but that did not help. I had to give her formula. It is up to you & your baby how long. Guest guest
Hi sheryl, I let my 3 1/2 DD wein herself, and my 13mo dd is still nursing at least 7 times a day.... and niether have had milk, I give both of them fresh carrot juice .( one glass of carrot juice has more calcium than 1 gallon of milk) so they definantly get calcium!!! good luck > I have a NT baby daughter who will be 12 months next month.
