Guest guest
How about getting rid of all caffeine, and taking sublingual Melatonin at bed time? Tried that yet? If you are on any perscription or over the counter drugs, you might want to look onto side effects on the web. Cutting out all simple carbs and most complex carbs may also help. If your system is way out of balance, it is not so much about curing your sleep problem so much as it is about restoring your system to balance thru good diet and healthy exercise. Guest guest
I have fibromyalgia and getting decent sleep has been a challenge. One thing I've done that has really helped is to address adrenal and thyroid issues as well as balance hormones by saliva testing and finding out what hormones are actually getting into my cells verses blood tests which basically only tell you what hormones are floating around in your blood stream waiting to be utilized. If you'd like to look into this for yourself (I only wish I had done this sooner) check out the stopthethyroidmadness.com web site. You'll find lots of help there! Also I use a natural product for sleep recommended by Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum called Enzymatica Sleep. It's working great as my hormone levels are not yet optimized. Guest guest
Haven't read everything that has been posted, yet could you provide more detail as to what you mean by " can't sleep " . Is it ie insomnia, just do not feel tired, mind races, physical sensations. You probably have tried warm herbal baths, and playing quiet calming music. I experience seasonal/cyclical insomnia from time to time... also was diagnosed with RLS & Fibro - treating the RLS & FIbro has helped... yet I do find there are times of the year when I am unable to sleep. The only thing I can conclude is I live in a rural agricultural area, and the times I have my most problems with insomnia are when they are applying chemical fertilizers & insecticides, more so than the herbicides to fields. Of course government regs require that these applications be done on days when the wind is under 3mph... reality is they do it when it is on their daily schedule... Of course there is yet a dr who will confirm this, and I doubt there is any available test to detect anything... The daily RLS is often worse during these times also... Guest guest
Moderator's Note: Just to clarify Nux Vomica is a homeopathic remedy. It is most appropriate when one wakes between 3:00-4:30 and can't get back to sleep until just before the alarm clock goes off. Nux Vomica people also have the tendancy to think of all the work things that need to be done.. Like a shopping list of to-do's. There is Arsenicum Alb which is a remedy for people who awaken around 1:00 - 2:30 and suffer with general anxiety about all sorts of things. Another option is Pulsatilla when you can only start to sleep very, very late in the night- say 2:00 or 3:00 am. It is very helpful is there is a response to what exactly is meant by " insomnia " . ------- Try Nux Vomica
Guest guest
Sleep aids that I have found very helpful are: 1. Lavender essential oil - either in a bath or a few drops rubbed under nose and back of neck - or inside of wrist. 2. St john's wort and valerian herb - separately or combined 3. Chamomile tea 4. melatonin If you can sleep through all that then you have got a problem! Jonathan Lisa Whitmore <bonitabreez wrote: I have fibromyalgia and getting decent sleep has been a challenge. Guest guest
I guess I should put my own remedy on this concern about sleeping or not. I've found for me is taking a Magnesium/Calcium tablet and about 3-tabs of brewer's yeast. The reason I've found that these work for me is that about a year ago I had heart surgery and the meds the doctor had me on, really left me with side effects. His drugs worked too well ,however it left me with a hard time functioning all day. Through trial and error, I found a combination of brewers' yeast with a mag/cal tablets before bedtime did the trick and I woke up in the morning quite rested and ready for the day. (oh, by the way the heart is doing just fine). Jack
