Guest guest
Thank you Lisa for the information. I have always drunk bottled water, but after watching Dr. Christophers tapes, i've been searching for distilled water and can't find any where I live. Can we do this our self somehow? Concerning meat, I am about to the point where I can't eat it anymore. Again, thanks to Dr. Christopher telling us how meats are injected with formaldehyde, which is what has poisoned us for 11 years along with phenol. I found out in 2003, after years of doctors visits and several surgeries, what was slowly killing me. This I did on my own as the medical community gave up on me. I have lately been trying to eat a lot of organic foods, but they are very expensive. I would like to find some recipes for the bulk foods my co-op has, but they don't offer any to help us out. I know I want to do the colon cleanse, but thought I might could start off with a tea that would help with detoxing the liver. Any suggestions here? On my next doctors visit, I am seeing an environmental specialist, i'll ask if he thinks my health is fine enough for me to do the colon cleanse. After that, I plan to do what i've got to do to help myself and my daughter. I want to make up a vitamin/mineral tincture for her, she is only 11yo, and doesn't eat right or take a vitamin. She hates every vitamin I buy and i'm wasting lots of money on them. I have thought of maybe making some kind of shake for her, but we both have severe food allergies and I see where people with sinus problems need to stay away from dairy. We both constantly keep a severe sinus infection, all the time. I'd appreciate any suggestions with any of the above. Lisa

Pretty much wrote me off after that.... (IMHO), the organic foods are very, very important with MCS. Conventional foods are full of numerous pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, pre- & post- harvest chems, various animal drugs, and chemical " food additives " ... the vast majority of which are also derived from petroleum and/or coal tar chems. (these are prohibited in certified organic foods) Because organics are expensive here too, a few years ago I started to grow as much of my own as I could. I feel that was also a significant factor in helping me regain my health. The organic foods I grow are harvested at their peak of ripeness, and still contain their highest levels of nutrition. (The longer it takes from harvest to table, the more nutrients are lost in the foods.) Each year, I add a bit more garden space, and grow a few more new foods. You can get alot of food from each organic seed packet (or tree/bush), and its so much cheaper than purchasing organic foods that are already grown. Be careful with the " vitamin " supplements. Many of them are synthetics and/or use chemical additives/fillers in their ingredients/formulas. Usually, the " B " and " E " synthetics are derived from coal tar. (even the " B " 's used to " enrich " or " fortify " conventional foods.... like in breads, flours, pastas, cereals etc) The only vitamin supplements that I've found to help me (rather than cause further harm), are those that are 100% Whole Food supplements. Hope this helps... Jan (in Michigan)
Guest guest
Hello Lisa, Yes, you can buy a Water Distiller and distil your own. Saves you lots of money in the long run as you won't have to buy any anymore!!! Organic foods are more expensive here also, but it's well worth it I think, so I just make do with less in other areas. Regarding cleansing, as far as I know, the colon is the area to start with. If your colon is not getting rid of your waste material properly, then a liver cleanse will not let you get rid of the waste you're cleansing out!!!! The colon cleanse per Doc's program is totally non-invasive so I would go ahead with it anyhow. The absolute BESTEST vitamin/mineral supplement you can give ANYONE regardless of age, is Doc's Total Nutrition!!! It's a powder that you put in a juice, or in a smoothie and I'm sure your daughter will love that! I drink it with orange juice - it's absolutely delicious in freshly squeezed oj!! Or you can try it with a (frozen) banana and Soya milk/almond milk, a little cinnamon and a little honey!!!! Yummy!! love Lisa de Haas - Lisa Mehan herbal remedies Saturday, April 09, 2005 8:16 PM Herbal Remedies - Re: Newbie / Lisa de Haas Thank you Lisa for the information. Guest guest
<big snip> > We both constantly keep a severe sinus infection > , all the time. Yes, you are correct in trying to adjust your diet first to see if that helps. One thing I've noticed about people who get sinus infections easy (and I'm in no way suggesting you or your daughter do this) is that they tend not to blow their nose when EVER it needs to be blown. This might sound like a strange observation. I spend a lot of time observing people's nonverbal communication. Creating mucus is a cleaning process. Mucus cleans out the sinuses of bacteria and dust that has been inhaled. If there's a moderate amount of mucus it silently flows down to your stomach where the stomach acid kills the bacteria. If there's a lot of mucus it is more comfortable to blow it out. Sniffing mucus back in is like giving bacteria a second chance to cause an infection in one's sinuses. Most people never even realize they've sniffed their mucus back in when they're called on it or they'll make a silly excuse about not having a tissue. If one takes a decongestant then the whole matter is complicated. If the mucus is dried up then the sinuses aren't going to be cleaned. Bacteria can grow in the sinuses easier. I use a " neti pot " and warm salted water (saline solution) to clean and moisten my nasal passages. I've heard other people say they sniff salt water to do the same thing but its not the same. Using a neti pot I remain totally passive and allow the saline solution to flow from one nostril to the other. The water doesn't go up into my sinuses. The saltiness of the saline solution causes the less salty mucus to be drawn out of the sinuses. A neti pot wouldn't be to cure what ever was making your sinuses create an excess of mucus but it might keep the issue from creating a more uncomfortable adventure with infection. A search engine could find you web sites that explain neti pots in more detail. Penel
