Guest guest
H Hello Seidenyou might want to try laniosh....it works wonders..its most commonly found in women's breast feeding sections for sore cracked nipples. they also sell 100% natural at trader joes or wild oats. I used it on my lips as the tube states you can also use it for manyother treatments For 15 years I have had badly chapped lips. NO chapped sticks worked or anything else...Now they show small white spots(not bumps deep under the lip skin) and red spots (like a blood blister) from so mush abuse...I have been trying to coat them with vitamin e,primrose and jojoba oils plus the last 2 days I have usedhydrocortesone cream and anti-biotic cream... I prefer not to use the last 2 because of the chemicals they contain and the petroleum but it does seemed to have helped. Are there any suggestions concerning subsitiutes or other remedies for chapped lips? thank you seidean

Is where you live extremely dry? Do you trend to eat foods that are very pungent (spicy) or astringent? I've known people whose constitution was so dry that just a little bit of garlic or red pepper or a pickle could make their lips crack. If you are like this would it mean you need to abstain from pungent or astringent foods? No. Moderation and balance might be the level to seek. Many primal cultures try to balance out all 5 (sometimes 6) flavors at EACH meal; pungent, salty, sour, bitter, and sweet (and sometimes astringent as a 6th flavour). To a culture using that theory, a health issue such as chapped lips might be addressed by balancing those flavor qualities of food. You might consider increasing your intake of water but unless you are creating a favourable internal environment in your body with a diet to balance your constitution, that might not be as effective approach as you'd hoped. Drink more pure water AND watch what you eat. Drinks containing caffeine and alcohol don't count when trying to hydrate. Caffeine and alcohol are diuretic. They cause the body to release water. You might want to keep a small diary of your diet. See if eating any foods precede your lips becoming worse or better. Good luck with your adventure, Penel
Guest guest
Hi Seidean, I had two thoughts when I read your post - 1) more water, which was already mentioned by someone else, and 2) essential fatty acids. For myself, and many other people I know, any kind of dry skin means that they're not getting enough essential fatty acids. I personally like Udo's Oil in my Total Nutrition. I don't measure out the 2T anymore, I just splash some in, and when my hands start feeling dry or my lips get chapped, I know I need to splash a little more Udo's into my morning TN drink! I can especially feel it when my husband skimps on his Udo's - his hands get scratchy REAL QUICK! Hope this helps. Guest guest
For dryness I've always used NaPca. It's the natural moisturizer found in the skin. It's abundant in babies but we tend to lose it as we get older. It pulls water from the air to keep skin moist and hydrated. You can find it at any health food store in spray bottles (Twin Lab, Nature's Plus, etc). It's great for sunburn and should help dry chapped lips. Maybe put it over whatever else you're using. I just want everyone to know how much I've been enjoying reading the posts and being part of this group. I'm learning a lot and I especially like all the recipes. I'm putting the " orange peel " vit C in our morning smoothie--It's delicious. The panther piss is great. I've tried for years to get Blackstrap down (In hot water, on toast)I just couldn't stand it but now I just put it in a little water and it is good. Thank you Doc. I'll be trying more of the recipes.
