Guest guest
I sent the message to two men. One has a master's degree from MIT and said it was not true. The other has worked in electronics and x-ray for his whole life (50 yrs). His reply is below: " Whoever the geek is that's talking about the lamps has more screws loose than a model T Ford. I have taken lots of those lamps apart to see how they are designed and consist of 2 mini transformers, some surge resistor, and a pair of voltage regulators. The noise he hears on the radio is from the gas atoms ionizing and conducting current. All fluorescent lamps have the same noise as radios. That's simply due to the fact they do not have big fat filters to smooth out the noise. Also, the cheap radio he has for listening to foreign broadcast is just a basic what they call a super heterodyne receiver. He should get a good Motorola triband designed for that application.
