Any alternative treatment recommendations? Thanks,Michelle Hi... Here's what worked for someone I know.......Ravensara essential oil diluted spread lightly over the area and also Lavender essential oil. At the time we had access to something called Colloidal Essence which was both silver and gold and used that too which is not longer in production..but one could try colloidal silver with the oils...and the oils alone might be all one needs. Guest guest
Hi, Having helped a elderly man here a couple of years ago with a severe outbreak of shingles, I can advise from personal experience it is worth applying colloidal silver .. (keep the affected areas moist with CS if possible). http://www.google.com.au/search?source=ig & hl=en & rlz= & q=colloidal+silver+and+shin\ gles & btnG=Google+Search & meta= In addition the person took large amounts of Vit C . I only had ascorbic acid powder for him but I am sure Vit C tablets in high doses will achieve the same. http://www.google.com.au/search?source=ig & hl=en & rlz= & q=Vit+C+and+shingles & btnG=G\ oogle+Search & meta= The whole episode took only close to a week to show dramatic improvement, no pain nor itching. It took a little while longer for the skin to clear up. From what I understand he has had no recurring outbreak. It is important for the person to keep immune system as strong as possible. Guest guest
I used to suffer from herpes outbreaks so since shingles are related to the herpes virus, I would use the following regimen at this link, except that I would use more magnesium and less calcium. Coq10 is very good for keeping nerves healthy. The topical stuff might bring relief, but the supplements are what will really help internally. All the best to your mom. jlk. http://www.holisticonline.com/Remedies/Shingles/shingles_vitamin.htm , " michellemilligan03 " <michellemilligan03 wrote: > > My 60 year old mother was just diagnosed with shingles. Guest guest
Topically the best thing for shingles is body lotion with beta glucan (an antioxidant). Internally, enzyme therapy is very effective to reduce inflammation, stimulate the immune system, improve circulation and help speed tissue repair. Super Enzymes (http://tinyurl.com/ey8l) is the best to use for this purpose, as it has 13 enzymes plus fennel, ginger, and cayenne for additional digestive support. Other important supplements are acidophilus (http://tinyurl.com/24ajq) and bifidus (http://tinyurl.com/24ajq). Friendly bacteria stimulates enzyme activity and improves the body's natural immunity. Make sure the products you choose are microblended with a whole food (such as bee pollen or organic wild blue green algae). In addition, one of the best antiviral foods is coconut oil. Nature’s Marvelous Germ Fighter: One of the most amazing aspects of coconut oil is its ability to fight infections. When coconut oil is consumed, the body transforms its unique fatty acids into powerful antimicrobial powerhouses capable of defeating some of the most notorious disease-causing microorganisms. Even the super germs are vulnerable to these lifesaving coconut derivatives. Coconut oil is, in essence, a natural anti bacterial, anti viral, anti fungal, and anti protozoal food.Coconut oil’s anti microbial effects come from its unique composition of medium chain fatty acids (MCFA). Coconut oil is composed of 48 percent lauric acid, 7 percent capric acid, 8 percent caprylic acid, and .5 percent carproic acid. These medium-chain fatty acids give coconut oil its amazing anti microbial properties and are generally absent from all other vegetables and animal oils with the exception of butter. MCFA are natural substances the body knows how to use for its benefit. They are harmless to us while they are deadly to certain microorganisms. For example, most bacteria and viruses are encased in a coat of lipids (fats). The fatty acids that make up this outer membrane or skin hold together the organism’s DNA. Lipid coated viruses and bacteria are easily killed by MCFA, which primarily destroy these organisms by disrupting their lipid membranes. MCFA, being similar to those in the micro-organisms’s membrane, are easily attracted to and absorbed into it. Unlike the other fatty acids in the membrane, MCFA are much smaller and, therefore, weaken the already nearly fluid membrane to such a degree that it disintegrates. The membrane literally splits open, spilling its insides and killing the organism. Our white blood cells quickly clean up and dispose of the cellular debris. MCFA kill invading organisms without causing any known harm to human tissues. The potential coconut oil has in treating and preventing a wide assortment of infections is truly astounding, ranging from the flu to life-threatening conditions such as AIDS.michellemilligan03 <michellemilligan03 wrote: My 60 year old mother was just diagnosed with shingles.
