Guest guest
Attilio I echo Anne's comments below. And, as she stated, this is not a criticism of you by any means, but is instead addressed to others on the forum. I agree with you that we have to be able to have robust disussion and argument. Often, to take a side and argue it out is an effective method of finding out how well you really understand something - or don't understand it! However, some individuals do seem to have chips on their shoulders. This is the challenge of life (I certainly have some chips) and sometimes it does help to 'let off some steam', but as health professionals I believe we should be more in touch with our inner selves than others and should find other less destructive avenues to vent the steam. We also have to consider not only our 'opponent' and the other members of the group, but also the reputation of CM within the wider healthcare community. I was saddened that Sharon had left the group formerly because of ruthless attacks. This should not happen. So I appeal to people to think about why they're venting their wrath and to consider the best way of dealing with that; it might be the issue, it might be the opponent, or it might be a problem within their own heart. It might be better to post a message explaining that you are going to continue the discussion of-list - that way both your reputations are sort of intact and we all know what is happening. Attilio I have made a small financial contribution to the running of the forum according to my means, which I intend to repeat every other month. I only say this to encourage others to contribute. Even if it's a small amount, if it's on a regular basis and we all do it then we can hopefully give you some reward for your labours. If the total donated per month is too low, could you post how much you have received, so people know? I believe this forum has huge potential and read nearly every post. It takes quite a bit of time in my day just to stay up on it. I do it because some of the messages are extremely helpful to me. And again, I appreciate your time. I also agree that differing opinons make for good intellectual examination from which new ideas are born. I do think that the manner in which people speak to one another could be a lot more respectful. I opened an email today, started reading it and I felt like a dart went through my heart, and it wasn't even directed at me. So just in perusing the email to see if we want to get involved or delete, I would appreciate more respect in addressing one another. I am a member of an alumni email group from my school. It is an unwritten rule that each member is treated with respect. There are different ideas, and sometimes disagreement. And it is all done with respect. This is what I am suggesting to make the group better. Beleive me it is not a critizism of how you are running it. I think with more respect for one another, the comments you are getting would be better received. Anne
Guest guest
Many thanks David. If people want an active group such as this to be run professionally and attended to constantly, they have to realise it takes a lot of time.
