It might be worthwhile blocking messages from Pat until he/she gets back.

You can do this in Outlook.

everytime pat ethridge recieves an email, his/her computer generates this

response.

of course, the response itself comes through the list and back to his/her email

address. which generates yet another response... see how that works?

hackers call this 'mailbombing.'

Moderator,

Please get on the ball!!! This email has been sent 100's of times and

consumed over 1MB in size, this could lock many peoples email accounts

and prevent them from receiving anything important!!

Steve,

I've already tried to put a stop to Pat's messages. Unfortunately, only the

group's new members are moderated now rather than all the group. Probably

because of the sheer work load involved in moderating everyone's messages.

Alas, I don't have access anymore to that side of the group, so cannot stop

the messages. I've emailed Mark, who I'm sure will be well aware of the

issue in time. Until then, best to grin and bear it until the problem is

solved.

Kind regards

If you have Outlook - under the Tab " Action " you can choose Junk e-mail and

then choose an e-mail from Pat's address.

In Outlook Express....choose Message - then Block Sender etc.

Hi Pat!

Did it ever occur to you that every message from the list will generate

this reply, and the replies would generate their own replies, for TWO

WEEKS. And then do you really want to make sure you respond to EVERY

message from the list when you return? Couldn't have suspended your list

membership while you were using the autoresponder, could you . . .

Hello, moderator. Maybe we need to Pat until the 9th?

Regards,

Pete

Hi Dr. Thomas!

It has been going on all night. When I started this morning I mass

deleted 100 of them. No one should ever try to mix list membership with

an autoresponder, it stands to reason that it just won't work.

In Mozilla FireFox you go to " tools " menu and choose " message filters. "

Then you create a filter by choosing " New " I created my filter like

this: " Sender " from the first dropdown menu, then choose " contains " from

the next dropdown menu and lastly wrote " Pat Ethridge " in the box

following the two dropdown menus. Then you have to decide to with it. I

chose to have it deleted in the below options menu. Quite simple.... I

should be the same procedure in the Mozilla Suite.....

Hope this works.

Thanks for the reassuring words. At first I thought all 179 of my

messages were in response to practice issues.

Pat,

I received about 50 e-mails from you stating that you are out of the office

and will return on May 5th. Perhaps there is something wrong with your e-mail
