Guest guest
Forgive the shameless plug, but I just learned Amazon.com has drastically lowered the price of my book " The Healing Power of Acupressure and Acupuncture " , to just $5.98 and I am not sure why or how long it may last. I wrote it in the hopes it would reach as many people (pubic and the profession) as possible and never expected to make a dime off it and surely won't at that price. For an honest-to-gosh unsolicited testimonial, please read what list member Christopher Vedeler, L.Ac., C.Ht., who wrote me three weeks ago, had to say: " .just wanted to email you and express my gratitude for you writing your book " The Healing Power of Acupressure and Acupuncture " . " I ordered it by a (Attilio's-mb) recommendation made on the TCM . You make clear so many ideas that I have had an intuitive grasp of, but could not clearly articulate to my patients. " Web that has no weaver " and " Between Heaven and Earth " are both excellent books in their own right, but I think yours gives the clearest picture of what this medicine is about and how it developed to the Western mindset. Having read your book now after all my Chinese medicine education, training and practice, I feel that it has brought me back full circle to the beginning once again. Your book should be standard issue for all beginning acupuncture students like " Web " is now. " To the best of my knowledge, my book is the first ever that attempts to trace the origins of acupuncture and Oriental medical theory to its earliest roots, showing how great a role prehistoric astronomy played. Don't be fooled by the somewhat cheesy title and cover art, my publisher chose those to appeal to the general public. Perhaps if I had titled it what a colleague once suggested " Before the Yellow Emperor " , it would have better caught the attention of the acupuncture/OM community. I am trying to bring my work to the attention of the profession but it is kind of tough practicing full- time and being a one-person promotional agent. I have to rely on word-of-mouth as my publisher has bigger fish to fry. Please tell others if you think this odd little book has value as Christopher does. Thanks, and I promise I will not bother this list in this way again (I'll find other ways to bother you). Matthew Bauer
