Guest guest
Oh I love chocolate mint, and the gals who called it invasive are quite right, but to me .. a patch of mints are good cause they are so invasive. In certain areas of the garden I find it to be quite nice to have stuff that grows like weeds but are " useful weeds " - and I can ALWAYS find something to do with any kind of mint - mint tea, mint soap, mint sachets, mint bath teas, and since I have a home still I can make a little mint EO and a lotta mint hydrosol (okay, since time will not permit I won't be doing any distilling till after I move to Houston - but when I get there I can assure you I'll have a wild patch of mint taking over a part of my garden and I'll distill it! *LOL*) Have a great long holiday weekend folks! Guest guest
Chris, I have a huge patch of chocolate mint! So far, I've only used dried herbs in soaps, or oils infused with herbs. Can I use fresh? Like if I pureed the chocolate mint and added it at trace? Or would it get yucky? Guest guest
Mints are best grown from cuttings to my limited knowledge. I did attempt to grow peppermint last year from seed and it was successful, but it did not withstand winter. My bought peppermints did fine. I have chocolate mint that friends gave me and I'm pretty sure they got it from walmart. Haven't seen any at the one near my house though. You may have better luck at a garden store or online for plants. HTH! , " Miranda " <ms8miranda wrote: > > I've never heard of this plant before but would like to try growing > it. Guest guest
I just received my order of chocolate mint, applemint, chocolate scented geranium, lemon scented geranium, orange scented geranium, etc., etc., etc., that I placed last week. They all smell so good! If anyone is interested in ordering a wide variety of mints, scented geraniums, etc., this is a great website... www.papagenos.com (I do not have any affiliation with this company other than being a happy customer). The web site says something about orders will not be able to go out after June 1 until the fall due to weather, so order quickly if you are interested. regards, Brookelynn - Miranda Wednesday, May 23, 2007 2:10 PM CHOCOLATE MINT I've never heard of this plant before but would like to try growing it. Guest guest
I found this wonderful little plant last year in a nursery in Overland Park KS - since then I've replanted it probably in 5 different places, dried it, steeped it, and passed it round to a dozen different people. I lOVE this member of the mint family! It's very easy to grow - spreads like mint of course, but is a very pretty dark mint with chocolate lacing on the edges...and makes a wonderful tasting tea - or flavored water - which is what I do a lot - just pluck a handful, rinse it off, plop it in a pitcher, fill water and put in fridge for a nice refreshing drink!
