Guest guest
Has anyone had a problem with Catnip EO and cat? The catnip EO I have has been ignored by several (I think I'm up to 7 now) cats. My ‘test cats’ seem to have no reaction. Sniff, sniff, then ignore. No cat seems to show much interest, even with tiny dilutions. I know they have a stronger sense of smell and I wouldn't want to overload their olfactory senses so they I'm not waiving the bottle in front of them. Perhaps it's something else in catnip that's not in the EO that they like, or I have CA (Catnip Anonymous) cats? Would Catnip Hydrosol drive them crazy? Guest guest
I swear that I Remember reading about cats, and catnip that only some cats respond to it. That it has something to do with their genetics. Does anyone know what Im talking about/can refresh my memory? Jennifer
Guest guest
You probably did read this about the HERB. It's a genetic thing, some cats don't possess the gene that causes them to go wild over the herb. This explains why some cats love the herb and roll around in it, and others sniff and turn the other way with no reaction. Guest guest
Jennifer, Yes, yes very true. But I have seen the cats that love canip and go psycho ignore the EO. I was afraid to get the EO for fear I would open my door and see herd of cats waiting out there! (Seems like everyone near me has a cat about now.) I've also made jokes about how Catnip might have undesirable effects with the Big Cats in Africa. Yes, to my experience, no cats seem interested in the EO of Catnip. Wondering if anyone has a cat that goes crazy for it. It's proabably good if they don't give a wisker about it. David Roman Who will stick to his pet Bunny. SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! Guest guest
I have a friend who can not give her cats catnip because it makes them very aggressive, not only toward each other but toward anyone. So, catnip is a no, no for her feline furries. Guest guest
Ah yep, Actually I have. I Had put some catnip on a cottonball and laid it on my bed and a few of them got up there and tried licking the cottonball. I shooed them away very quickly, when I saw one of them salivating at the mouth! Jennifer > Wondering if anyone has a cat that goes crazy for it.
