Guest guest
Here is a blurb from the site listed below it. For those whose main business focus is eo's, will you please comment on this? Opinions. I think it makes sense to me, however, it took a high amount of temp to get the eo out of the plant in the first place, so some of my thinking thinks a tealight isn't going to hurt the eo. what say you? " Diffuser World does not currently sell candles because a large number of essential oil companies have written articles about not using heat to diffuse oils. They claim it destroys some of the therapeutic value of the oil. We have not done research in this area yet, but our initial reaction is this: If the use of essential oil for aromatherapy is to clean, detoxify, fragrance, oxygenate or add some other form of therapeutic value to our environment, then why would we light a fire and burn it? The candle flame consumes oxygen and replaces it with smoke and wax toxins, not to mention the potential fire hazards. This part does not make sense. This is our current opinion. " http://www.a-1diffuserworld.com/compare.asp Course, they also say they 'offer style and beauty as opposed to bigger pumps'. Like huh? Most folks I know prefer more bang for the buck as opposed to less bang. YMMV ...lol Warm regards, Janine Phariss www.BlueSageNaturals.com Unique & Innovative Herbals

A tealight is great for scenting a room, providing an aromachology experience - it can calm you, energize you, do whatever you associate that particular oil with. So in that sense, yes, you are right that the high temp is not harming the oils. However... see below. > > " Diffuser World does not currently sell candles because a large number of >essential oil companies have written articles about not using heat to >diffuse oils. Hmm. Anyway, they are parroting some widely-held beliefs that heating the oils when they are needed for a therapeutic reason is not good. Here's my take on it: we in America grew up with humidifiers in our bedrooms filled with Vicks VapORub, the widest-distributed aromatherapy product in the US. The decongestant power of the oils was not hurt by the heat of the steam distribution, in fact, the added warm moisture probably helped clear our congestion. What I like about nebulizing diffusers nowadays is that we can still use those same decongesting oils and get the same results with less trouble. We can also vary our oils. The fact that that company does not carry candles because they believe the candles don't have any healthful benefits (physically) is their call. I don't think candles can decongest anyone, either. I'd use an nebulizer for that purpose... which brings me to their webpage you cite..... > >http://www.a-1diffuserworld.com/compare.asp > >Course, they also say they 'offer style and beauty as opposed to bigger >pumps'. The only line they carry that is any good, IMHO, is Whole Spectrum, and they're almost doubling the prices. I have the model they sell for $85 and I got it from WS for $44! I think I wrote about their great nebulizers on this group in the past month. I've recommended friends who are suppliers stock their nebulizers. The quality and price can't be beat, but they sure can be doubled by these ripoffs at diffuserworld.com. Sheesh.http://member.newsguy.com/~herblady

Whole Spectrum is also known as, and can be reached at: http://www.aromatherapyproducts.info/ Took me hours to read everything on their diffusers/nebulizer page before I ordered. Whew. Thorough. >yeppers on vicks vaporub in my humidifier. >last time I used eo's in it though, nov 1997 and got sicker than I'd been in >a long time. I think vertigo can happen when the sinuses are so clogged, the entire head (including ears) suffer, and you can get dizzy. The oils may have made you feel sicker because you were punk'd already, and now you have a nice case of 'aversion therapy' and you might never use Vicks again! LOL Me, I feel that way since I made a batch of yummy lemon curd last month, ate too much, got a sugar high, then sugar plummet, felt woozy and tired, and can't look at the stuff now. Lemons are OK, but nothing rich with lemons and butter and sugar, no way.http://member.newsguy.com/~herblady
