Guest guest
I just read today, that honey is a food that kills. It stated that it was no better than white or brown sugar? I not sure I believe this information. I am looking for some others opinions on this one. Here is the website I went to http://www.healingdaily.com/detoxification-diet/sugar.htm. Tell me what you guys think? Christine in GA :-)
Guest guest
Christine, I couldn't open the site, however, I'm not sure how much weight I would lend to that. I believe that honey has been used for centuries internally and externally as a bacteriostat. Unless you are allergice to honey in some way, I don't know how it would be dangerous. Guest guest
It depends entirely on the specific form. Raw local honey is by far the best.. Pasteurized honey and refined sugar has a tendency to immobilize your immune system for up to five hours after ingestion! Testing proves that the majority of all pasteurized juices also adversely affect us as well! http://www.unhinderedliving.com/sugardanger.html JoAnn mrsjoguest www.alternative-medicine-message-boards.info Chris <chris_place wrote: I just read today, that honey is a food that kills. Guest guest
I'd never give up my honey. Strong believer in apitherapy. Sure, too much honey isn't good as its simple sugars, but the benefits are numerous, and it's a great aide during herbal treatments, esp. tea, helps body assimilate some of them. Guest guest
I'd like to cut the amount of sugar I use but am finding it impossible. Stevia to me is bitter. I've been told I'm using to much but when I cut back my coffee isn't sweet enough. Do any of you use honey in your coffee? Guest guest
Sherry, I personally don't drink coffee, however my MIL has been using honey in her coffer for years. That is the only sweetner she will use. If we are out somewhere she will drink her coffee black before she puts sugar in it. At home it is only honey. Guest guest
Sherry, maybe you need to give up coffee and then you don't need to worry about the honey or sugar ! Try making some herbal infusions like red clover or nettles to substitute for your coffee. Coffee is going to stress your liver anyway. Guest guest
I'm always amazed when people want to find a substitute for sugar. Why not stop sweetening things altogether? One of my pet peeves about food in the USA is that practically the only flavors anything is flavored with is salt and sugar. That's it. There's a whole world of flavors, but when the salt and sugar are strong, that's all you taste. Now that I've virtually cut out processed foods I'm amazed at how good food tastes. There are so many subtle flavors that are just extraordinary. I do occassionally add a little salt or a little (natural) sweetener, but I keep the amount very small. Just enough to enhance flavor, not take it over. Terri - Judith <sr1216 herbal remedies Re: Herbal Remedies - Honey is a health problem? Guest guest
HI terri I have to agree on this one, I love salty/sugary foods, sometimes food does taste better without either but uits so hard to give it up totally.
