Guest guest
We are pretty lucky around here, and our medicine cabinet is pretty small. Herbs: Chamomile herb tincture for restlessness. Crystallized Ginger for nausea. Nettle tincture for allergies. Elderberry in tincture, jelly, and wine form for colds and viruses. Jewelweed and Plantain with Sage in cider for bites and rashes. Arnica Gel for bumps, bruises, and muscle strains. Bach Rescue Remedy for shock or trauma - physical and emotional Oils: Lavender Tea Tree Those are the things we wouldn't be without. Other things are used when the need arises, but these are considered staples in this house. Guest guest
3 things i would always have in there ... allthough the concensus of this group might not agree with me 1 . silverdine [ it used to be by prescription only , but i heard it was OTC now -- i dont know ] its medicine you can put on a burn . MAJOR burn . especially [ a requierement in my book , if you have kids ] it takes the pain away and helps in healing . this is not for little things , but when you have second and third degree burns over a larger area . 2. black draw-out salve . yes , thats what they call it ... will pull anything out of any infection . stinks like black tar , but works great !! 3 . whatever that little bottle is called that you use for inducing someone to vomit -- my brain went dead ... sorry ... i have all of these ... dont use them much ... but ... i would not like to be without gab in fl Version: 7.1.371 / Virus Database: 267.14.1/206 - Release 12/16/2005

Guest guest
Hi Kimi! I think the reason no one answered you is that if you take someone else's "cabinet" then it is not yours. I believe you must study the messages and files to glean what YOU need in YOUR cabinet. Take your own personal experiences to develop your list. Every person is different and some remedies will not work for everyone. IE: What works for you does not mean it will work for me. This herbal health cannot be handed to you on a silver platter. YOU must work for what you need. Guest guest
Sambucol is mainly comprised of elderberry, propolis, and echinacea. While I have used it in a pinch, it is far more economical to make your own elderberry tincture and mix it with local honey. There is glucose syrup in Sambucol. While, I have not found it particulary useful for coughs but it is a great immune support. I really think that the elderberry extract is what is really useful in this preparation and I highly recommend having some of this around for any herbal medicine collection. Guest guest
I've been waiting to see what others use! I'm no expert, believe me, but here's what I have: Tinctures: Cayenne, Cat's Claw, Astragalus, Elderberry, Black Walnut, St. John's Wort, Lavender (for insect bites & other skin issues...it's amazing) Oils: Peppermint, Clove, Myrr (dental issues!) Teas: Chamomile, Green, Dandelion, Oregon Grape, Burdock, Goldenseal Pure Aloe Vera Gel & Raw honey, Colloidal Silver Total Tonic, Body Balance, and Total Nutrition....but those would probably be kept in the kitchen cupboard! I also make several lotions and salves: one for eczema and other rashes (with herb-infused oils), a lotion with menthol, and also an MSM lotion for aches and pains. All the ingredients, even the recipes (darn!) are in our other house in another state, so can't make any until we make another trip back there! Anyway, this is what I have in my home - I'm sure others have different tinctures/oils/lotions & potions, and I too would be very interested in what folks are using. Guest guest
For Everyone..........I just joined last week and I have to say it has been so enlightening and interesting reading every-ones e-mails. I am learning so much and I feel compassion to those who really have serious stuff going on in their life. To all of you I just want to send my love and say thanks for all the info. I do want to start cleansing. I have been on a diet since Sept. 30Th and have lost about 43 lbs so far. Everything is going well and I am starting to feel so much better physically and mentally. Injured my leg 1 year this month and that is doing so much better to. I watching what I eat (and not as it goes in my mouth) LOL but I am careful about what goes into my mouth. I would like to know how to order some stuff from DOC. Not sure how to do that ...maybe somebody can give me a link....Thank you in advance. Love to all and have the most wonderful holiday no matter what you belief. May it be bountiful, healthy and full of joy! Guest guest
Tinctures: Goldenseal, Ginger, Elderberry, Cayenne My essential oil store is sort of ridiculous: I have tea tree oil, lavender oil, clove, cinnamon (fixes yeast infections. ) eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary, orange, pine, cedarwood (pests) citronella, I also have rosewood, sandalwood, and geranium that i use just because they smell nice. Rescue Remedy I also have a large store of dried herbs, I have chamomile, calendula, lavender, kelp, bay, flax seed and I keep a large aloe vera plant. Misc: bentonite clay and french green clay, coconut oil, beeswax, aloe vera, fresh garlic and fresh ginger and acidophilus. Things to make ahead: I make a chest rub by heating some olive oil and adding enough beeswax to thicken it up. After it cools, I stir in essential oils of eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree oil, rosemary and oregano. I make a homemade ointment for rashes and the like by making an infused oil with chamomile, lavender, calendula and comfrey. To make this I fill a large glass jar with the herbs and I cover it with equal amounts of coconut oil and olive oil. Then I let this sit in a warm sunny window for weeks and thicken the oil up with beeswax. For pain relief such as earache and tooth ache I have a rice bag that I have filled with rice . I then heat this in the oven, not the microwave. A neat trick I have learned is to use half flannel and half wool to make the bag, it holds the heat better that way. For sore neck muscles and headaches brought on by stress, I make a small neck wrap and fill it with flax seed, lavender, and chamomile. This can then be heated and placed on the neck when neck muscles tighten or a stress headache sets on. It can also be used for a sore back. Guest guest
Elderberry trees/bushes grow fast, I got a baby one (<1 foot) and with in 2 years it was 5 feet tall and producing berries. It might be just as easy to wildcraft them though, they grow all over the United States and Europe. Look for the white umbel of flowers growing in wetter areas in the early summer. The stems will have a reddish tinge to them and the berries come in late summer and are dark purple. Look in an ID book to get a better idea.
