Guest guest
I've just grown my first-ever sprouts! My only other sprout experience has been with the ubiquitous alfalfa sprout. I am just SO amazed. I tried wheat sprouts because I have organic wheat on hand. I truly expected it to taste anywhere from totally yucky to bearable only because it's good for me. I was so very stunned when I began chewing my first mouthful. The taste was amazing. I can hardly wait until my next batch is ready to eat. But now, I've got TONS of questions! 1. If the grain has been frozen, will it still sprout? (I have organic hulled barley in my freezer). Will " hulled " barley sprout? 2. What about other grains like millet? Or oats? Do they sprout and is it good? 3. I'm assuming that grain that has been " cut " won't sprout (I'm thinking steel-cut oats). Is this correct? 4. Does anyone have a good way of eating wheat sprouts other than just munching on them (although I love just munching on them)? Guest guest
I recently got into the sprout growing mood.. lol. Im doing barley now, have done wheat and spelt.. Since I make my own bread, I added some sprouts to the dough.. man was that good! I think if a person can even use their imagination, theres no limit to what can be done with them.. I put some ontop of the bread before I baked it,..experiment u know...and they come out really crunchy, but they tasted oh so good.. made the loaf look kinda neet too. I took some of the wheat berries, and spelt,..and I soaked them, then cooked them a little, then baked them, added some butter and little salt.. wow, everyone loved them, like little nuts..
