RE:  acupuncture and depression

can anyone please point me to some links on acupuncture in the treament of

depression - research articles and / or commentaries. i have been asked to give

a talk to local GPs and a more general public talk and am trying to gather a

broad base of ideas and articles.

google Rosa Schnyer, she designed the protocol for the U of Arizona study which

generated a lot of interest. her book is very good also.

Hi Jason,

 

I thought you might be interested to know that the World Health Organization

published a list of 4 categories of research that had been done on acupuncture.

These show the conditions for which acupuncture has been shown to be effective

from the most evidence to the least. Depression was in their #1 list; " Diseases,

symptoms, or conditions for which acupuncture has been proved - through

controlled clinical trails - to be an effective form of treatment. " The link to

their website listing these four is:

Sorry I do not have any references to the studies they used to determine

depression should make their most stringent list. - Matt Bauer

The studies they use to back up their grouping into these 4 groups

are all listed in the document itself (freely downloadable at the

link you gave below). Just download the word document or PDF file for

free. Then check out pages 37 and 38 (at least these are the pages in

the PDF file) for depression and use the numbers in parentheses to

look up the full title of the studies in the Appendix at the back.

It's all there.
