Guest guest
thanks matt. i tracked down the full report for this document. its well worth a view. if anyone's interested, it's at www.who.int/medicines/library/trm/acupuncture/acupuncture_trials.doc regards jason ======================================== Message Received: Aug 03 2005, 12:07 AM " Matt Bauer " Chinese Medicine Cc: Re: Â acupuncture and depression Hi Jason, I thought you might be interested to know that the World Health Organization published a list of 4 categories of research that had been done on acupuncture. These show the conditions for which acupuncture has been shown to be effective from the most evidence to the least. Depression was in their #1 list; " Diseases, symptoms, or conditions for which acupuncture has been proved - through controlled clinical trails - to be an effective form of treatment. " The link to their website listing these four is: http://www.who.int/medicines/library/trm/acupuncture/clinicreportsacupuncture.sh\ tml Sorry I do not have any references to the studies they used to determine depression should make their most stringent list. - Matt Bauer - jason davies Chinese Medicine Monday, August 01, 2005 11:56 PM RE: Â acupuncture and depression can anyone please point me to some links on acupuncture in the treament of depression - research articles and / or commentaries. i have been asked to give a talk to local GPs and a more general public talk and am trying to gather a broad base of ideas and articles. thanks in advance jason davies
Guest guest
I also included the WHO's chart of their four categories in my book as a way to educate the public about the types of conditions acupuncture was most effective for vs. those that it is only maybe effective for. - Matt - jason davies Chinese Medicine Wednesday, August 03, 2005 7:59 AM RE: Re: Â acupuncture and depression thanks matt. i tracked down the full report for this document. its well worth a view. if anyone's interested, it's at www.who.int/medicines/library/trm/acupuncture/acupuncture_trials.doc regards jason ======================================== Message Received: Aug 03 2005, 12:07 AM " Matt Bauer " Chinese Medicine Cc: Re: Â acupuncture and depression Hi Jason, I thought you might be interested to know that the World Health Organization published a list of 4 categories of research that had been done on acupuncture.
