Hi,

I have a lot of information about bloodletting from seminars i ran

regarding the modality in South Africa. It is a very effective therapy

and essential for any chronic case as per the sayings of the Nei

Jing: " New diseases are in the channels, old diseases are in the

network vessels (aka blood stasis) " and " If there is stagnation it

should be resolved by bloodletting before acupuncture and/or

moxibustion " . It is also very effective for pain, patterns of replete

or vacuity heat and many dermatological diseases. There are also ways

it can be used for blood vacuity patterns albeit at lower doses.

There will be an upcoming seminar arranged by the South Australian

College of Natural Medicine in bloodletting but if you are unable to

attend contact me off list and i can arrange to post you out notes etc.

I would also like references on this. I have a patient that could

benefit but I would need to feel prepared to do it.

Thanks,

Birch & Ida's " Japanese acupuncture, a clinical guide " has a good

section on shiraku/bloodletting therapy.
