Guest guest
Hi All I have been treating a 50ish woman with a frozen shoulder of 2 years duration. X-rays negative for pathology, she has tried M.D. and chiro with no change. I have treated her 4 times with affected meridian points, local and distal points, St 38, and Procaine injects. She has improved a little as she can now put her coat on which she couldn't do before, but she still can't get her hand up past her waist in back. The pain on palpation has moved from the top of shoulder to the anterior middle third of the shoulder. Does anyone have any suggestions for treatment? Guest guest
I have treated many of these cases. The acupuncture is important, on UB and GB points in neck region, and ashi points in the opposite hip region (GB and Stomach channel areas). Also, very important to do some very strong Shiatsu and myofascial release of the back shu points, biceps tendons, traps, levator scapulae, scm, splenii tendonae, pectorals, supraspinatus, subscapularis. They need to do some specific exercises to activate the pectoral muscles and the rhomboids. It should improve in a couple of months 2x week for 4 weeks, then maybe 1x week. Also, person may need to go on anti-inflammatory diet and some herbs. I hope that helps. Marleen Colangelo, AP
Guest guest
I have heard about some studies on frozen shoulder in women that say it is hormonally related. Though I treated a woman without much success but didn't work specifically on hormonal balancing. Maybe really looking at the TCM diagnosis and treating that? Though you have probably done that if it has been 2 years of tx. Maybe an herbal remedy for hormone balance.? - lyeric100<lyeric100 To: Chinese Medicine <Chinese Medicine\ @> Sunday, January 29, 2006 10:48 PM Help difficult shoulder Hi All I have been treating a 50ish woman with a frozen shoulder of 2 years duration. I'm not sure what your training is for these type of cases. If you palpate at the tendon/bone insertions, I believe this will be the clue for further treatment. Guest guest
Dear Friend , body acupuncture though is effective but takes (some times )a very Long time . what I have seen with very fast a good results is auricular massage , which I give it to the patient myself . and most of the time in 5-10 min the problem has recovered by 70 -80 % . first sit the patient on a chair , than rub your hand to one another to warm them . than take the ear apex ( both sides )and rub them to make them red , mostly this makes whole the ear red . than followed with shenmen and zero point and neck ,clavicle and shoulder area , now the key point in relaxation of the muscle ( take the occipital and sub cortex region in your hand between thumb and index and rub it properly, all the region in the occipital area in the ear . by now you should have reached to your results . in case of too much stiffness ,please rub the neck , shoulder and clavicle from back of the ear .remember in case of massaging the neck and cervical area ,massage direction is from down to up . I have seen success in all the cases that I have treated by this method or electro acupuncture of the same points ,till now . regards , Dr,Fadaie
