Guest guest
Congratulations to you and Drs Ying and Sperber on completing your DAOMs, and breaking new ground for the profession. Back in 1991, I was in the first class that completed the then new MTOM at PCOM. With your extensive background in higher-ed, you probably were able to pace yourself through the ordeal. Many, especially as AOM students still tend to be coming from other professions and are not as young as they once were, come out of graduation and licensing exams with somewhat frazzled Lr/Ki Yin, and even taxation at the Jing-level. Back at the beginning of study at PCOM, one of the teachers cautioned us about the toll that study can take, especially when one tries to rush it through. She mentioned having spent several years building her health back up after completing a degree and the CALE. Up here I recently helped a group of people who went through the 1st NCCAOM exam in the new bodywork category. It took them about a year of careful herbal tonification to get back their energy levels and consolidate their immune systems, which seems especially hard hit in many cases. One of the virtues of studying AOM is that provides us with the awareness and tools to help in this way.
