When a Hydrosol exits the still it is STERILE .. and unless it is later contaminated by the user it will remain sterile .. far more sterile than the waters we normally find bottled on grocery shelves. Contamination is often caused by putting the hydrosol in non sterile containers .. or stirring a batch of whatever with a stick, etc., that is not sterile. Or allowing the hydrosol to become contaminated by the other non sterile ingredients. There is a difference to be pointed out here so folks don't think that hydrosols will naturally go bad on them. > When I make my creams, I don't use water and the stuff will last for > quite a while, but the minute the water goes it, I gotta use it up > within THREE days... six is stretching it in my opinion, even > refridgerated six is a bit long. No comment on the number of days cause I don't know .. but from what I have read over the years on MANY Lists .. every person who expects to make money on cosmetics and cremes and such uses a preservative .. and since there exists no effective SAFE natural preservative .. we all know there are no natural cosmetics or cremes that will last more than a few days (weeks?) and its pretty much accepted in the industry that use of synthetic preservatives is not only wise .. but safe .. and economic. > My opinion only. Same here. ;-p > Cheers! > Kathleen Petrides > The Woobey Queen > Woobeys: The Loving Touch Therapeutic Pillow > http://www.woobeyworld.com Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
